What are you going to do with your PSP? Since Sony is going to upgrade the firmware what are you going to do?

I don't have a PSP and therefor don't know about the emu on it, but these threads are driving me nuts. How many mod chips does the PS1 have? like 4 for each model?

If they upgrade the firmware, and keep all previous legit psp games playable, how FRIGGIN HARD can it be to just patch/update your emulators too?

Right now it looks impossible. Since anything above 1.5 does not let you even run code off your card.

I use mine as intended as a game PSP game machine. Could care less about emulators, MP3, movies, or photos.

At the moment I use mine only to play psp games, mostly lumines. I only have the memory card that came with it so I can't really fit any music on there and I already have an ipod. As far as emulation goes i'm intrigued by the possibility of playing turbo grafx games on there but as of now i don't really understand how to do it as i've never used emulators before.

What exactly do you mean by upgrade the firmware? They already did that with the newer PSP's that are out. You mean upgrade it thru future PSP games? I always assumed Sony would do this since the whole hacking scene began, but I haven't heard anything official yet. Did they say something about it?

Well, in efforts to further be dicks about it, Sony will have some games require you to update the PSP's firmware in order to play. Sort of like a "Ooh, you can't play GTA unless you upgrade your firmware and stop using unofficial and bootlegged software! What now, bitch???" But I'm pretty sure the games that end up doing that will be available in cracked downloadable versions in no time. Oh Sony, when will you learn?

And I tentatively voted emulation.

I didn't vote because both options are absolute statements. And buying 2 PSPs is definitely out. I like playing PSP games, and that's why I bought the thing. But right now I am all about the emulators. I will NOT upgrade my firmware, and I will not buy any game that forces me to do so. I will however continue to play the games that I have, and I'll hapilly buy games in which I am interested that do not fool with my firmware.

Of couse this is all tentative until they sart cracking the firmware upgrades. I am looking forware to a few upcoming PSP games, and it will be a shame if Sony tries to make me choose between the thousands of games that I can now play via emulators, and the few games that are coming out in the near future that I want to play. Sony is going to come out on the short end of that stick.

I only use mine for games, so I don't mind firmware upgrades as long as they never add region coding.

Sadly I stupidly upgraded to 1.51, so for now Emulation is out of the question.

So until they either crack 1.51, or I get a second PSP just for emulation (Not bloody likely) I'm stuck with just games.

I also don't care for playing emulators on my PSP. I have checked into it, but it was for more of a curiosity than a real interest in doing so.

I may unlock the web browser if anything at all...Speaking of which, Has anyone done so? Does a thread exsist about it?

EDIT: Found a few threads.

I posted on here before saying i'm using my psp mostly for psp games but now that i've figured out how easy it is i'm hooked on psp emulation. I'm playing all kinds of turbo and snes games and the snes ones look perfect in wide screen.

I have a dedicated laptop for emu's. That's portable enough for me at this time, and more reliable to boot. I'm perfectly happy with the legitmate game and Memory Stick movie capabilities of my PSP.
