Well, I can remember having a stack (3-4) of old school Nintendo Game & Watch games back a long time ago. I sold them when me and my family moved to NC from MD several years ago (sorta like an estate sale thingy). Back then they didnt cost too awful much, but they have increased in price quite a bit. Wish I still had em :(

Pretty much all of the rare/in demand PS2 games I got before they became that way. Klonoa 2, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, a few others.

I had a couple game n watches as a kid also, and never really knew they were worth anything until a couple years ago. Still have a complete crabgrab from back in the day.

the only one i can think of is a complete earthbound... the rest became pretty much worthless ($wise ;) )

I cant remember anything (right now) that I owned but I remember looking at a lot of games at my local rental store. Mostly NES titles.

I have learnt my lesson. I can tell which types of games become *Rare* by studying past trends - And they tend to almost always be the ones I want the most - RPG's and puzzlers!

As I tend to buy these kind of games anyway, i'm pretty certain to eventually get something that may be later considered rare.

But - I keep them sealed - At least, until I can be certain that they are either considered rare (In which case they stay sealed) or are worth squat (Where I may then consider opening it)

Eg. I bought Space Channel 5 Part II for PS2 a while ago for about £15 sealed (Yes, a bargain I know!) - Recently though, I have seen unsealed ones go for over £30 a piece.

I think I missed my time with the PlaySation though, and have paid some top money for some of the rarest sealed games out there! Almost all my NTSC PSone collection are rares and have cost me a bomb.

I also paid £75 for a factory sealed PAL Suikoden; £65 for a factory sealed PAL Vandal Hearts II; And £85 for a factory sealed PAL Paper Mario... I also paid £250 for each of my Steel Battalions which were both factory sealed at the time with their respective brown packing cases.

game & watches are rare?

I have a game&watch (I think) it is a boxing game that you 'open' the handheld and there are 2 controll paddles inside, its a neet little thing, how much do these sell for?

I think everybody has done this at least once. I remember I sold my original chrono trigger and final fantasy 2,3 for $10. Back then, they werent worth that much though.

Basically any RPG from the NES on. I have my original DW 1-4, all the final fantasy games, chrono trigger, etc...

I still have many MIB RPGs from the SNES from when they came out. Never bought them with future rarity or $$$ in mind, but am nevertheless glad that they are in demand. ;)

I also bought Myriad 6-in-1, Cheetahmen II, and a bunch of other rare NES games for relatively cheap before their exact rarity was determined.

I bought Panzer Dragoon Saga and Burning Rangers at TRU on the same day.

Suikoden II. I hated the game, traded it for something(more than likely less than waht it's worth now.) and like a week later, the value skyrocketed. x-p That actually happens to me frequently. I need to stop trading. :p
Yea right.

I bought most of the great SNES RPG's when they came out. Of course, games like Chrono Trigger cost me 74.99 at the time, so I wouldn't exactly say they've gone up too much in value. LOL

Last year I snagged two copies each of both Gitaroo Man and Disgaea at the CC 5 buck sale. Both of those games have really gone up in value.

I had a Sealed Game & Watch up until recently

I also had 1/2 of the US Dreamcast library sealed!! My better sales were Powerstone 2, $160, and rez sealed, which i traded

I also had the game and watch collection which used to fetch up a lot of $$$

oh, almost forgot... I had a box of sealed dragon forces that i got from a computer store for 9 dollars sold each for around 80 dollars

I just recently discovered how much Rhapsody on Playstation was going for. That was a title I picked up back when it came out, hated it, and haven't played since...going to have to sell it at some point.

I've got Final Fight Guy for SNES w/ box and instructions in pretty nice shape. Rescued it from Blockbuster over a decade ago for like $10 or some such.

a lot of SNES/NES/Playstation RPGs... Chrono Trigger and Earthbound complete (though with Chrono Trigger I picked it up complete/used for $16 in 1997). Saturn stuff like Guardian Heroes which I picked up from Media Play for $30 when they were marking down all of their Saturn games

Panzer Dragoon Saga sob story: Bought it when the second print run hit. Stayed up all night so that I could get my copy as soon as I could (was in Basic Training when the first print run hit, so I missed out on it). Got the game, played the hell out of it, loved it to pieces. A year or so later a friend borrowed it. Never saw it again. Recently rebought it from ebay for $150 :(

I've got Marvel vs Capcom 2, MGS2:Substance, and Disgaea for PS2..not sure how in demand those are, really. I got Zone of the Enders 1 and 2 used from Gamestop.com and got screwed (ZotE1 is a Blockbuster disc w/ no manual and ZotE2 has no case or manual) and I never got around to replacing them (Gamestop.com doesn't take returns for stuff like that...believe me, I tried :( ), so while ZotE might be an easy replacement, ZotE2 is going to cost me a good $40 after shipping :(

I sold my PHANTASY STAR III for like 5 bucks back in 94. Sooo very stupid. But hey.. I was young.

God I loved that game. What was I thinking!!!

Valkyrie Profile...I still can't find a copy below $50...I did it with magic more, like you know sell the P9 from Beta for 60-70...now I wish I didn't do that :(

are those pal sb's, or did you pay almost $500 for a sealed ntsc version?

I bought a sealed Gitaroo Man at Tesco last year for only £6.99. Shortly after, the price of sealed copies shot up to over £30!

That's when I decided to start keeping a majority of current gen games sealed - Especially as the dawn of a new generation is almost upon us, and this is the time when certain games start to show their true rarity and value.

Just take Marvel Vs Capcom II and Ico for instance - Both those games have suddenly shot up, as has Space Channel 5 Part II. There are also a few others which I guess will follow very shortly - Things like Disgaea / La Pucelle Tactics / Phantom Brave.

Konami games also tend to become rare and sought after. Especially sealed ones. I am currently working on building a nice sealed Konami collection of PS2 games in particular - especially seeing as sealed Konami games are few and far between as it is!

Not sure if this would count since I bought them secondhand, but I got every SNES RPG with manual from one guy for about $3 apiece. Later he needed some money for bills so I took all his N64 games for about the same amount, and among them was Ogre Battle 64 and Harvest Moon 64. So yeah, I guess you could say I had them before they were valuable, because by a complete fluke I later ended up with two copies of Ogre Battle so I decided to auction one on eBay. I put a $35 BIN on it and it was immediately snapped up, at which point I realized I was an idiot and it could have gone for way more.

I had NCAA College Basketball 2K3 on GameCube, and traded it in since it was 'just an out of date sports game'. I am still figuratively kicking myself.

I bought virtually all the SNES RPGs, Mega Mans, etc, and all the Genesis, PS1, Saturn, and PS2 rares before they went up in value. It just so happens that 75% or more of what I happen to like to play ends up rare or in high demand.

Boxed Ardy Light Foot (Snes) about five years ago from a local video store for 5 bucks.

I kinda regret selling Gitaroo-Man. It's insanely shot up in price. I did make a profit on it although I can't see myself paying +$100 for it anytime soon. @_@

Earthbound
Suikoden II
Steel Battalion with the box and all that
Rampage for 7800

Dragon Warrior IV would be the only one for me - and I bought that new when it was released. Oh, I guess NES Final Fantasy might count. That goes for a fair bit on eBay nowadays and I bought it for $5 from KB Toys when they were clearancing their NES games.

X-com ufo defense(ps1) would be the game for me. paid $15 for it 7 years ago.
The ones I got rid of before I started collenting would be:
Phantasy star1,2,3
Intelligent qube
suikoden
starwars chess(scd)
dark wizard..
I had alot I got rid of aback then and when I see the price now Im like WTH, that is the reason I do not get rid of any of my games now. Back then who knew.:)

Most of my TurboDuo stuff is from the Turbolist in the mid 90's. Bought, traded and sold for some sweet games there.

The most valuable is probably Panzer Dragoon Saga. Got it for $49.99 when it was released.

For current gen, Rez is the standout. Got it used for $44.99 around the time of its release and never looked back.

Pretty much every English Square RPG for the SNES that people will pay an arm and a leg for, I got brand new back when they first came out. I also have Earthbound and a few other non-Square RPGs for the SNES that are also valuable now.

Also, I got the "special edition" of Mega Man 8 without knowing that it was a special edition when it was new.

All of the games in my NUON collection were purchased for $2.00 new... after shipping. Now, the same games new go from $20.00 to $100.00.

I paid about $3 for a new copy of Suikoden II a few months after it was released. It was just sitting there all alone on an endcap at Target. I still have it, unopened. I got DarXide and FIFA Soccer for the 32x years ago before thaey hit rare status. Paid $50 for both.

That's all I have that I didn't pay full price (or worse) for.

Psychic Assassin Taromaru (Traded this PLUS 4 other games for a Turbo Duo, which broke a few months later)

Keio Flying Squadron (When I was desperate back in 2000, I sold this for $20. $20!)

Panzer Dragoon Saga (sold this plus the other 2 PD games for $95 back in 1999)

Suikoden (Sealed x3)

Lufia 2 (Sealed x4!!!)

I've owned every Square RPG and Earthbound for SNES at least a few times.

and a lot more, which I still kick myself for this day.

Probably the European NGP release of Pocket Reversi.

I originally thought I only had one Euro NGP game to get to complete my set (Fatal Fury). I phoned up a company called Telegames and they asked if I had Reversi which I didnt so I brought that as well.

A while later I ended up selling my set of NGP games (really regret that!) and a chap mailed me asking if I had Reversi and I sold it to him.

He later turns up in a magazine in the UK called Edge Retro along with his complete Euro NGP set and the ultra rare Pocket Reversi. Still bugs me to this day :(

I also got most NGPC euro games back then for low prices. Although I have doubts about the rarity of Pocket Reversi. I had atleast 8 copies myself a few years ago. I also got CFC2 for NGPC when it was released.

Other rarities I got cheap were Terranigma and Nightrap for Mega-CD 32X.

That's what I can think of now.

Unfortunately, I sold my Genesis collection at FuncoLand when PS1 came out. Good Bye Warsong and Shining Force II. So long General Chaos and Mutant League Hockey.
Did I mention the Phantasy Stars?

I've re-bought most of them now, and for less that they originally sold, I guess. But it still feels so wrong.
