I think it's very possible for Nintendo to replace the cellphone pretty soon. If the Nintendo DS goes as planed and as good as the Gameboys did I think the next Nintendo DS could feature everything a person ever needed to communicate with each other. Imagine a screen for writing, a screen for looking at the person your talking to, a microphone for talking, speakers for listening to a conversation. What else could we need. We would have a free phone with free phone access.
Here is something that looks promising.
A scan from an unknown Japanese magazine seems to suggest that a sequel of sorts to the free chat application that came on the Nintendo DS will be released on the 20th November this year in Japan.
This is very much a rumour, and has not been confirmed in any way by Nintendo of Japan.
According to the site dsparty the new application will be in full colour. It is not known what other add-ons could be included, but it is is possible this may include free online chat, as by November the online titles will supposedly have launched in Japan.
It is also not known, if this is true, how the application will be released, either as a download, an extra as part of one of the online games, or as a GBA-cart add-on.
