I collect mostly games I'm interested in playing. Thus, I will consider my collection "complete" before I ever have a Stadium Events or Cheetahmen 2 or Bubble Bath Babes.

However, I do have certain sub-collections that I am interested in collecting. This week, when I found Metal Storm in the wild and got a good price on Lemmings and Battletoads / Double Dragon on eBay, I finished the first: Every NES game ever on the cover of a Nintendo Power. Okay, so it's not that hard as only Felix the Cat, Lemmings, and Battletoads / Double Dragon are at all difficult to find, but I'm still happy about it.

I have a few subcollections myself, in particular for systems that I don't wan't every game, such as with the Playstation. I am working on every RPG and Shmup. Currently I have a subcollection of every KOEI game for the Genesis and Saturn. I know its not saying much, but considering its hard to find those Genesis games complete with the maps and posters, it was a bit costly. Additionally, the KOEI warranty cards are semi-prefilled out with the games name printed on it, so there is no "cheating" on making a game complete by using other warranty cards from other games, like you can do with other publishers/manufacturers. My goal is to get every KOEI game ever made and relased in the US for every system, but I'll find it difficult to throw money at Gitaroo Man. I hate rhythm games.

Now there's a sub-collection I've never thought of before. Very creative. Congrats on completing it, too.

really? wow, i have similar subsets going, like every game featured in the 2 Super Nintendo Guides by Nintendo, or every game with a review score of less than 20% LOL

Red Hedgehog,

That is a sweet sub collection!!! I think I might have to do that one myself. I have all the Nintendo Powers up until Issue 30, but I thought that the issues after that were pretty much all for SNES.

Well, Lemmings and Battletoads / Double Dragon were really multi-system releases, but they were A) on the cover and B) had coverage of their NES versions in those issues, so I counted them.

Pretty cool idea. I'm missing many of those cover titles. :P I've always found old magazines to have an interesting relationship with collecting to me. As my collections for each system grow, I love to go back and look at old magazines and discover that I have nearly every game covered in a certain issue. I can't even imagine what it's like to have a complete system collection for something like NES or SNES. o_O Every time someone talks about a game on the system, regardless of what it is, you got it. O_o Must definitely be an interesting, almost surreal, kind of feeling.

I agree that would be an amazing feeling to have the complete collection of snes or nes and i can't imagine but I'm actually looking to get a bunch of issues of nintendo power, especially from the snes era, im hoping i can find them but not sure.

That is a very cool sub collection, congratulations! Are you going to try and display them together? That would be cool too.

My only sub collection for the NES so far is all the Activision titles w/box & docs. I have one box to go and a few docs. I was very jealous of classicb's Tecmo post & collection, so that was my inspiration to finish that one off.
