I have been trading over the internet for many years now and 75% of the time I open a package this artificial shit hits my nose like a truck on the freeway. The dreaded cigarette smell comes my way less often (I do not smoke,).
Come on now, show of hands, who uses that shit? Does your stuff soak up the stench because you've been spraying it around your house for years? Is it a ritual to directly spray anything that comes home from the flea market? Maybe you spritz the stuff in every open package before you send it off! There's an alternative called exposure to sunlight and open air! Hello!

thats pretty funny :)...never had the problem, and i don't need to use febreze at home, but at work we have to...too much of that stuff can really stink though

Disgusting! Better than hippie cologne, though...if I ever smelt THAT out of a package I'd die right on the spot. :P

I'll admit to using it on my furniture...never on my games...
I rank getting hit by a cloud of cig stank when I open a box as worse than a cloud of febreze. I've lived around smokers all my life, but there is something about getting a lungfull of that smell that has been lingering in a box that makes me...well... :puke:

I don't use it, and I'm not really sure what it smells like, so I wouldnt know it if I smelled it. But I sure do hate it when I open up packages and they smell like cigarette smoke.

I think you're talking about patchouli. Yeah, that would be a real shocker to find seeping out of a package!

In small amounts it's fine. Keywords - small amounts! I have used it on my furniture before as well and also in my car, but a little bit goes a long way.
Why would anyone use it on games? I thought it was for fabrics only?

I've never had any that smell like Febreeze nor do I use it.

There is an official Febreze air freshener you spray around that 'kills' odor. I saw the commercial for this not too long ago depicting various TV moms using the hell out of it.
It irritates me that this mentality floats around which presumes you can mask smells with other smells, but it's a free country and people have been doing it as far back as ancient Egypt so I guess they're not going to learn anytime soon.

I use it on my game room, so I'm sure some of the games may pick up the smell. I wouldn't use it if my cats weren't so damn stupid.

What you guys fail to realize is that the smokers are blowing smoke onto the games as they package them to cover up that foul febreeze stench.

Fabreeze works pretty well in moderation. Just one spray per room every month or two seems to spruce things up and isn't nearly as overpowering as those plug in air fresheners. And a lot more in the garage where my cat pees all over the place. Wait, why the hell am I typing this?!

I don't use it at all..never here..
I can't stand the smell of it..Probably because my mom used to use it and I think I just got tired of the smell..

The next time you get a package from me, it's probably not Febreze you'll smell - it's Glade Vanilla. For some reason when our cat does her business she leaves behind a really strong smell, or maybe it's the generic litter itself that stinks as she kicks up dust in the air. Either way it makes me gag, so I immediately grab the vanilla air freshner and spray it two or three times in the laundry room, then once or twice in the rec room - and all my games are in the rec room. So I suppose my duplicates for trade probably have an air fresh scent, even though 99% of them are sealed into plastic bins or buried inside of boxes.

I tend to break wind into boxes I send out, and then seal them up really tight. I wonder why I never get repeat customers?

Holy revived topics.
Also, I hate Febreze. HATE IT. It makes me sneeze like crazy.
I used to have a friend who used it in his room - I couldn't stay in it for very long.

In all seriousness though I've really been wanting to try that out. LOL Thanks Billy Mays.

gotta love febreze, when i was in high school in the football locker room febreze was like water. We would just spray it all over each other and on our pads and on the ground and in others hair and just about everywhere. Clouds of febreze were common daily, there were 54 lockers in our clubhouse and about every one had febreze in it.

Recently I got a game packed inside a Stouffer's lasagna TV dinner.
Yummy! I was inspired to go get one for myself :eek 2:
Also, why is Bratwurst complaining about masking smells with smells, he masks meat taste with baby taste, and as we all know smell is a big part of taste

I've actually gotten games that people have "spilled the bong water" on, talk about a terrible smell. Clorox wipes to the rescue

At least in this case, it can't be one of those "Use the search button" complaint threads. He had a topic he wanted to talk about and used the search button. Way to go!

That was back in high school in PA, it was from a friend of mine.
I live in Ohio now. as for all the drugs in the area? I do live by 2 big cities, and there is a place not 30mins from here that hosts weekly(or bi-weekly) music festivals.

Honestly, I probably would rather have smoke than some nasty artificial fragrance. Natural smells are almost always better, even stinky ones. Even though the sellers should be doing it themselves, I can always wipe down a smokey game with a wet, soapy rag and let the papers air out.
I'm also irritated by the idea that products like Febreze can "wash" things. Gimme a break. People are becoming too lazy and they want the quick and easy fix instead of doing some real cleaning. I mean, you can, in many cases, take off the outer covering of couch cushions and pillows and pull down drapes and throw them all in a washing machine.

I started spraying cloth items with febreeze when I was selling on eBay because people were complaining they smelled like smoke. The funy thing is that I don't smoke. I'm alergic to it and I would certainly notice if they smelled that way before they left. But the complaints stopped after I started using Febreeze. I'm still not sure what was up with that.

What have you been smoking?:p Cigarette smoke is far from natural. Havn't you seen those commercials.LOL I would prefer febreeze to smoke any day.

I personally don't understand the appeal of Febreeze. I understand it kills odors, but why do people spray that shit everywhere, even when not neccessary? Those commercials where people spray random things and smell them are really annoying, and (like several people say) will probably get cancer or loose brain cells because they wanted everything to smell like Febreeze.
Now, if Billy Mays came back to life as a zombie and told me to buy a crate of Febreeze or he would eat my brain, then I would buy a truckload.

Of course I didn't seriously revive this topic, just to inform this community that I fart into boxes. I did it jokingly. There's a difference. :P (Actually, the topic was linked in the bender, I responded, not looking at the date...but who cares? It's all just fun & games, right?)
And Stu is right, I do spray it on my no-no bits. And then teabag the items I send. :D

To be honest, I love the smell. If people wouldn't think horrible things about me, I would wear it. Actually one of my fav smells. I haven't owned any for many years. (Not since I quit smoking weed as a teen.)

I spray febreze in the bathroom after I take a shit. No air or windows in it. :(
But not on games, or any other rooms of the house, unless the games come smelling like smoke, because febreze smells better than smoke.

Febreeze is the tool of satan if you breath it in accidently right after spray. Its like sickly chemical death for your nostrils and throat.
