Very cool Flickr gallery of 80's electronic games (http://www.flickr.com/photos/petromyzon/sets/538195/), certainly not complete but it brought back a few memories.
Glad to see my beloved "Computer Perfection" is represented! LOL

Out of the batch in the pics, I have the Tandy (Entex?) Baseball game and the Entex Defender handheld. I wonder what's that Dungeon and Dragon game we can see. Anyone's got an idea?

That one seems strangely familiar to me....I have the Coleco Football and Computer Perfection (not too big a collector of those types of games) I have some others that aren't on there, like good ol' "Hit and Missle"

I used to have that D & D game. It came with four metal figures: Two fighters, a treasure chest, and a kick-ass dragon. It also had a ton of red "wall" pieces.
What you had to do is pick a starting location and go try to find the treasure. If you ran into a wall, you would put a wall piece there to remind you. Once you found the treasure, you had to bring it back to your "home base." Meanwhile, a dragon is flying around (invisibly of course, but after awhile you could figure out the pattern) and if he attacks you you had to start all over again. A second player could play at the same time and try to steal the treasure from you as well.
It was a REALLY fun solitaire game, but hard as hell!

Thanks for the info, Kris! That reminds me somehow of that "Warlock of the Firetop Mountain" (Fighting Fantasy) board game that I got as a kid (and still own to this day):

(unfortunately, I couldn't find a picture of the full set, and my copy is at my parents' -- maybe I could find a second to take of picture of it this weekend when I go see them.)

Wow, some great memories there...
I used to have Blip, Mattel Basketball, Auto Race (I was a fiend on that one), of course Mattel Football, and Tron (I miss that one :( ). I love those things :) Great site.
Slightly off topic, one time, someone showed a site that had downloadable versions of some of these games. Anyone remember what that was??

Did any of you check out that guy's Retro Arcade Set (http://www.flickr.com/photos/petromyzon/sets/553223/)? A bunch of photos of a Station Break Family Amusement Center, circa 1981. It's a gold mine. Ah, those days are long gone, aren't they?

those were some awesome shots. there weren't any arcades of that magnitude near me back then.
I love those old handhelds. I have 16 of the ones pictured and tons of others. Fortunately I've kept every one I got since the late 70's. Most recent one I found was last night. An Entex Football 3.

It is a thing of beauty! See, if I were to own an arcade, I'd try to make it really retro -- no music from later than, say, 1985, 80s-style decor, no recent cabs (although I love DDR), employees that'd be dressed in vintage clothes. Hey, it could work, if only among the 30-45 crowd. :D
