Hey, I've recently gotten a new computer, and since I already have one for school work, internet, etc, I thought I would turn this into a gaming computer. Since I really don't feel like buying stuff at the moment, I just want some good but free downloadable games. Any genre is fine, however I'd prefer action, adventure, or RPGs.

Thanks.

Well, I was hoping to get a specific game, and not a website with a bunch of games on it. Thanks, though. Do you have any suggestions of games from that site?

I prolly gona get beat up for this but house of the dead 2 (as well as typing of the dead, same game but with typing really educational and fun) is real nice and hay I bought hotd3 for PC which was supposed to come with all 3 just like the xbob but it didn't so I'm sorry. :( Pls forgive me...

Guilty Gear X might just prompt you to go out and buy GGXX# for PS2 etc

I also really like The Rage (fluid games) a 3 final fight.... and that Road Rash 3D for PC even though I think the N64 version is better.

And Metal Gear Solid PC as well as Umi kara wase the puzzle game...

If you're a fan of DOS games from the 486 days, Betrayal at Krondor and Arena: The Elder Scrolls are both freeware.

i don't know of any free games other than furcadia, it's a MOSG (multiplayer online social game) i dunno, if you like furries check it out. LOL anyways you might wanna try getting some kind of 3-pack of PC games, or packs where a few games are bundled together, like i got army men 1 and 2 together, as well as mechcommander gold, worms armageddon, and civ II together. i think each of those packs only cost me $20.

Edit: duh, how could i forget america's army! if ya don't already know about it, it's a shooter used for training army soldiers, and it's free at www.americasarmy.com, but only and only download it if you have a super-fast connection, it's a full-blown shooter. if not, i think you can get it on CD at some army recruiting centers.

Check out vertigogaming.net. This is a site dedicated to games made with a program called Game Maker. The owner of the site is really good at making games with it and has made some really cool stuff. I suggest downloading Ore No Ryomi 1 and 2 (as well as 3 when it comes out hopefully next month). They are cooking games where you have to make an order for a guest. Its really fun. Check it out :D

Also, check out Sandbox of God. Its a really unique game.

Not really a downloadable game, but if you like side scrolling shmups in the vein of Contra or Metal Slug, try Alien Hominid (http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/59593) online.

Also don't forget that most big PC titles these days have free downloadable demos.

Hmm, thanks for the help. I already have Alien Hominid for PS2, and I'm downloading Soldat now. Also, I'd prefer full games, not demos.

Hmm, interesting. I'd like to play it, but what program do I need to extract the files from the .lzd file? Winzip can't seem to do it.

Maple Story

http://www.mapleglobal.com

2D side-scrolling free MMORPG. Great backgrounds, great BGMs. Four initial class choices (Archer, Mage, Thief, Warrior), but through job advancements as you level, you become more specialized.

It's an online game though, so I don't know if that rules it out for you.

Raccoon Lad, I'll check that out.

Dreams, already played Maple Story, and although it is a pretty good game, I'm bored of it. Thanks anyway.

Have you ever heard of Runescape? (www.runescape.com) It's an MMO done in Java with INCREDIBLE graphics (for Java). Some DP forum members play it. Check out this topic (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=62380) to find them.

If you like shooters the least bit, you HAVE to play Warning Forever: http://www18.big.or.jp/~hikoza/Prod/index.html#wf

In the same vein, ABA Games has a bunch of freeware shooters too: http://www.asahi-net.or.jp/~cs8k-cyu/index_e.html

There's also a free version of Star Control 2 that's been out a a while. I haven't played it yet, so I can't comment on how good it is. But the original game rocks. http://sc2.sourceforge.net/

Hmm, thanks...

I'm incredibly bored with Runescape, so that's out. I'll try out some of these other games eventually. Still trying to get gunbound to freaking download.

It seems that whenever I try to download Gunbound, the download stops, as if God doesn't want me to download the game or something...

It's still very much playable. All paying the $9 does is gives you the ability to change your jet fuel color. You can still play the entire game for free :)

Dreams, already played Maple Story, and although it is a pretty good game, I'm bored of it. Thanks anyway.

Not sure if you're aware of this or not, but Maple Story has now gone from beta to official release. With this came the addition of the next island and the third job advance and cash shop should be implemented by the end of summer.

Characters weren't brought over from beta, so everyone has to start fresh, which can get boring. But more areas to explore, more quests, different monsters, and the promise of the third job and experience cards from the cash shop make pretty good motivators. :)

Meh, still not really interested. What are the experience cards?

dreams
07-12-2005, 03:59 PM
Experience cards increase the amount of experience you receive from killing a monster. Makes leveling faster and easier. I believe that the experience cards that we will be getting are 2x cards.

Lone_Monster
07-12-2005, 04:13 PM
Meh, thought it would be something like the cards in Ragnarok or something. Not really interested.

Dreams, just so you know how addicted I've become, in little less then a day I'm already at level 15. But I can totally understand how you can tire of this game after awhile, because the quests arent that cool.. yet..

ive got one. I'll give you a rundown on what it's like first.

Imagine Enter the matrix online, mixed with rpg elements, and not only guns but swords as well. interested?

http://www.gunzonline.com/

interested enough to click that link? then download it and register an account and play it! here's the registration link:

http://www.gunzonline.com/GunzWeb/FormSignUp.aspx

right now the game is free open beta, but if it's released for a fee with a lot added to it , it would be a great purchase :) (right now theres a few levels, maybe 5-7...)
