I am curious about the new map pack for Halo 2. Has anybody else purchased it? Is it any good?

One specific question I had is if the hard copy is transferable to other Xboxes. In other words, can I share it with my friends, or is there some sort of CD key on it to prevent this? Thanks.

I bought it and really like the extra maps. If you havent bought any of the maps yet then you get 9 total new maps :) The disc also has a "making of" the new maps and an animated short invovling some marines that get shot down.

Of course if you have Xbox live and can wait 2 months , then all of the new maps will be free. To me this map pack is worth it simply because it will be part of my collection and not just another download.

And to answer your burning question...... Yes you can share the disc with your buddys and let them download from your disc :D

I bought it just to share with my friends. I can't wait till august when the levels are put into the real matchmaking games, not just preview.

I've already put the Maps on my xbox and my dad's, so yes, you can plop em down on as many Xboxes as you want.

I did some map reviews for another site, but I'll repeat em here as much as I can.

Relic-one of my favorites of the package. There's a glitch where if you crocuh jump on top of the closed teleporter, you'll go through, but even so it doesn't seem to destroy the map. It's an effective mix of vehicles, sniping, and on-foot movement.

Terminal-Oh, this one is fun. King of the Hill is pretty crazy here with the train tracks, although if I have any complaint, it's the difficulty for defense getting to the rockets. Granted, D gets a Wraith, but still...a good map for CTF games, too.

Elongation-Slayer heaven. Get a bunch of people, close range weapons like rockets, brute shots, or shotguns, and go wild.

Gemini-Not as big a fan of this one, probably because by the time I got to play it, most of the people in my group had left. It seems small, but not small enough for only a few people. Like Ivory Tower.

Backwash-this is a good one, too. The fog adds a twist to it, making it difficult to spot cloaked people, and giving plasma weapons a neat little glow. Very fun for Juggernaut games.

I've posted my thoughts on the older four in another thread, but here's a little synopse: Turf is sweet, Containment is my favorite for large scale games, Sanctuary is wacky fun with Spectres, and Warlock is an insane small map.

I liked the bonus "Day at the Beach" short, although it was, well, too short. I haven't seen the "making of" vid yet, though.

Can you download these maps? Sorry if this sounds stupid, but someone asked me about these new maps the other day and I didn't see any new links in the download section.

They went up in the downloadables section on Tuesday, I believe. 12 bucks for the 5 newest ones(unless you wait til August 30th, at which point they're free). The other 4 are free.

Thanks... I'll probably wait for them to become free.

I bought the disc. It's alright. The maps are better than the maps that shipped with the game, but for $20, I wish they would've done more like added more weapons or maybe some more playable character classes.
