What is your favorite "live action" game ever made

Mine personally is Night Trap for the sega cd, although the 3do version is the best quality one IMO. pretty much anything made by digital pictures was ok with me. what about you guys?

I liked Shadow Warrior. I'm a big kung fu movie fan and they actually shot the footage at the Shaw Bros studio and had some real martial artist/actors in it.

I also played a lot of Prize Fighter back in the day.

Some of the shooting games like Sewer Shark and Corpse Killer were ok, but a lot of the FMV games (especially the horrid Slam City) weren't that good IMO.

you're right about slam city, i dont think there was any pattern to that game, just luck. the only reason i made this topic is that i was playing double switch for the saturn today and it reminded me of the genre again. what ever happened to that style of game? i know there was x files, fox hunt, and psychic detective for ps1 but does anyone know of any games like that for the current systems?

I guess I would have to say Psychic Detective as it's the only one that I've finished, I also liked Sewer Shark to some extent too. FMV games are pretty boring though and take a lot of time to enjoy in my opinion.

Tough call between Psychic Detective and Dracula Unleashed. Psychic Detective is the best "moves fast" FMV games and it's actually a really interesting and original game. Dracula Unleashed is one of the better acted games and uses FMV the way it should have always been used - for peripheral information and to progress the story, not to actually attempt to "interact" directly with.

I know what you mean, but i just always thought it was cool to "control a movie". it was unique and different than any other games at that period, or really this one for that matter. i still love night trap, even though i could only beat it with this special guide i got which tells you where you are supposed to be in the house at what certain times. i honestly dont think any of the current systems have anything like it at all, although the did rerelease those sherlock holmes ones on dvd, which can be played in a ps2 or an xbox, but those dont really count :)

For me, the original PC version of Fox Hunt. The Playstation version was alot slower and the FMV were so grainy you really couldn't make anything out sometimes. Fox Hunt was funny and challenging, although the game did have some strange bugs. That's another game I got to the end of but could never beat. I wish I could find another copy of that. I borrowed the PC version from a friend then I bought the PS version which I later traded in. Would anyone happen to know where I can find a copy of the PC version?

psychic detective was very weird for sure. some of those endings you got were pretty out there. i like the one where your mind goes totally crazy and he is in the loony bin LOL

I know they get a lot of flack, but I think the whole FMV genere was a lot of fun for a while. Sewer Shark was probably my favorite, with Night Trap coming in second. The animated ones like Dragons Lair and Time Gal were better IMHO. That being said, I'm glad they still aren't making them today. I think the genere went as far as it could.

i think all of the laserdisc games were great. i know the ones i have on my laseractive are pretty sweet. if you like those ones like dragons lair, space ace, etc, and if you have a cd-i, you should check out escape from cybercity. its a pretty fun anime game that you control. but just think if those games (live action and animated) looked pretty good on a cd, image the great games they could make on dvd or blu-ray. i mean think about a lord of the rings style game that you could control or a matrix style with slowdown (not like the crappy game) i think there are some great possibilities out there but i dont think we will ever see one again. hey how about a digital pictures collection with night trap, sewer shark, slam city, kids on site, supreme warrior, quarterback attack, and corpse killer. that would be an awesome set!

I'll always have a soft spot for Night Trap. Not so much for any of the gameplay (which I did enjoy to some extent), but mainly because it was one of the central pillars of the whole mid-ninties video games are destroying the children witch hunts.

I remember seeing the footage of what's-her-face being pulled into the hidden shower door by those weird vampire/ninja things on CNN. How did anyone take the video game violence thing seriously with that bit of fluff as a chief piece of evidence? Well, I guess they showed the Kano fatality from MK I as well... a bit of footage that both my parents responded to with, "Cool!"

It's not really an FMV game, so much as still photos of actors animated on a 3D environment... but I really enjoyed "Titanic: Adventure out of Time" it's a point and click that teleports your character back in time to the Titanic where you're given the oppertunity to change history. However even when you win, you lose. I remember one ending actually resulted in the Nazi's having won World War II. I think I just have a soft spot for fucking depressing games. :P

Probably Wirehead or Masked Rider/Kamen Rider Zo. Fahrenheit is actually pretty interesting, too, but I haven't finished it, yet. I also thought the game show game Twisted! and other games like it for the 3DO like Station Invasion were quite awesome. And Snowblind seems like a good FMV-heavy game, but I haven't gotten that far in it yet.

I guess I have to come out and admit to being an FMV game fan, too, although I'm more fond of the animated ones like Road Avenger.

And I also could never beat Foxhunt. I don't know if I made a mistake early on or what, but I got to a point where I was held hostage and could not keep myself from getting killed.

My favs?
Double Switch--I almost had all of the dialogue memorized so I knew when to switch the cameras. Corey, Debbie and the drill sgt. from Full Metal Jacket...
Ripper--Too many CD's, but a great cyber-detective story (if someone owns this game and wants to sell it PLEASE sell it to me)
Phantasmagoria--actually had decent acting (if someone owns this game and wants to sell it PLEASE sell it to me)

man I have that one thanks to the import company I as helping out.
he imported two copies for reviewing at that time but when it was refused the classification over here it was effectively banned.
we split the two between us. was told the reason for the refusing classification was due to the rape scene in the one of fmv... :p
but then leisure suit Larry maguna cum was refused the classification as well last year so nothing new really...

dunno when we will be getting R18+ rating for game just like for movie/film... :(
No chance we will ever see any of those CERT18 rating titles out in Japan for ps2/xbox...

Probably It Came From The Desert on the TG16/TurboDuo. The FMV sequences were so horrible, it made the game gold. LOL

Sewer Shark was the first FMV game I owned and played and it will always have a soft spot in my heart. However, my favorite, favorite, favorite will always be Corpse Killer. "First-person" zombie shooter. And classic character actor Vincent Schiavelli as evil Dr. Hellman? It don't get any better in the "creepy villain" department!

I've always liked scotty pippens slam city and dracula unleashed. But if I had to chose just one it would be dracula unleashed.

I'd say I'd have to go for Night Trap on the sega CD, mostly because of the memories about it like someone else said. I also put the 3DO one right behind it since its just as fun but graphically superior. Also on the list would go: Dracula Unleashed (sega CD), SnowJob (3DO), Twisted (3DO), and Sherlock Holmes (Sega CD). Someone else recommended two other games I'd love to play: Voyeur on the CD-I. Played it for a little bit a few years back...seemed to have great potential...would love to play it again. Also, someone added Blue Chicago Blues. To that I say...screw you!! lol That Laseractive version is the toughest to get!! I actually own it on the Saturn and PC-FX, but the only way to play it in ENglish is on the Laseractive version. Damn you!!! ;) *sigh* BTW, I actually have the DVD version of Sherlock Holmes for the Sega CD. Wow, what adifference...but even MORE cheesy now! They also did release Dracula UNleashed on DVD. It'd be interesting to see that one too.
