I've been totally addicted to these turn-based, squad on a grid games for over a year now.
I loved Warsong and Shining Force back in the Genny heyday, but games like Disgaea and La Pucelle on the PS2 got me back into the genre.
What are some of your favorites in the SRPG vein?
My list would also have to include Military Madness on the TG16 and the PS1 port (Nectaris)
Advance Wars and Fire Emblem are good games on the GBA as well, if not a little simplistic.

I always loved this genre too from the moment I played the origional Shining Force. Some of my favorites are Final Fantasy Tactics, Front Mission 3, and Tactics Ogre.

Final Fantasy Tactics is hands down my favorite, but it was really the only one I ever got deep into.
Of course, I own like 8 million of them and I'll never have time to get through all of them.

Shining Force was always my favorite. I was never a huge fan of the genre, but there's something about the Shining Force series that I'm drawn to.

Of course, how could I forget Tactics Ogre. I put a LOT of hours into that when it came out. I even went back with a guide to get the hidden characters.
Never finished it though, I never got through the 100 floor dungeon.

While most of my RPGs are turn-based, I started warming up to strats a while back with Iron Storm (more strat than rpg), Dragon Force and FF Tactics. I get off on Battle Hunter when I want a quick fix as well. Vantage Master Online (Falcom PC) is really digable and free at that.

I dont have any besides FFT and FFTA, I recently started playing FFTA again and I must say it is one hell of a great game. While the laws are a pain it is so addictive to get new jobs, especialy the assassin :)

Shining Force and Final fantasy tactics are both great, but my favorites are the Nippon Ichi strategy games, such as Disgaea and Phantom Brave.
Final Fantasy Tactics is my all time favorite.
Shining Force & Vandel Hearts are other games I really like in that genre.

Lets not forget Phantom Brave.
My all time favorite in the genre would be the X-com series on the PC.
Also a new one is coming out in less than a month- Makai Kingdom. Ya baby!

Absolutely:
X-Com: UFO Defense/Terror From the Deep (PC)
M.A.X.: Mechanized Assault & Xploration (PC)
Shining Force I and II (Genny)
Ogre Battle (not really S-RPG but close)(SNES)
Tactics Ogre/Knight of Lodis (PSX/GBA)
Nectaris/Neo Nectaris (TG16/PCE CD)
Vasteel (TG16 CD)
Warsong/Langrisser II (Genesis/MD)
ZOE: Fist of Mars (GBA)
Fire Emblem (Fami/Super Fami/GBA)
Front Mission 3 (PSX)
Dragon Force (Saturn)
Vandal Hearts 2 (though it's brutal) (PSX)
Saiyuki: Journey West (go figure :D)(PSX)
Koudelka (though it's not really a Strat/RPG...more of an RPG/Strat)(PSX)

well i've been playing stella deus lately. i think the only reason i am enjoying it though is because i simply haven't played a strat game in so long. it's for the ps2 but the graphics are worse than ps1, the plot is about as unoriginal as one can get, and the voice overs are easily the absolute worst i have ever heard in a game. like, i can't even begin to describe how horrible they are. i almost want to suggest the game just so people see what i am talking about.

Ooh... MAN, I suck at these! Perhaps it's my impatience, or perhaps it's my intolerance to wade through a bog of menus in order to send a servant to fetch me a sandwich. Heh... anyway, they seem pretty cool, but I've just been never able to get into them. Military Madness/Nectaris, however, is damn cool, and if it qualifies, Herzog Zwei is a bitchin' game. It might not be an S-RPG in the truest sense of the word since it's very active, and the deployment of troops relies entirely on the action of your controllable commander. I can best describe HZ as an S-RPG/Shmup hybrid, and is a bit reminiscent of the overhead scenes of Thunderforce II.
I think I have at least one more S-RPG to mention... or HAD, anyway. It's gone now. Gah. >_<

I just started Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits on PS2 and so far, so good.
The story seems (I'm only an hour in) to be "2 races once united are now divided."
I'm willing to bet that I will be reuniting the races to defeat a common foe real soon.
Aside from the common story, the only gripe I have with the battle system is that enemies drop items when you defeat them, making you waste a turn moving to pick them up. This is not usually a problem, as there is often an enemy close by to attack anyway, but it's a hassle if you need to get somewhere else on the map.
