I think you're being a bit harsh. He actually says something more like:

I can understand not knowing Bean the Dynamite. As far as I can tell the only other titles this character has a connection to is as an easter egg in Virtua Striker 2 and as a secret character in Fighters Megamix (with credit to Dynamite Dux acting as inspiration for the character designer). Unless you count the Shenmue plastic toys of course. ;P Sonic the Fighters actually may have been Bean's first appearance from the info I am looking at (I have a date of 96 for Sonic The Fighters...a 96 for Fighting Vipers and a 97 for Virtua Strikers 2...anyone?)

As for Espio, the only other title I see an appearance in is Knuckles Chaotix. Maybe not as obscure as Bean the Dynamite, but not really a household name either.

If there are more appearances, please point me in the right direction.
