I guess it must be as good as Radiant Silvergun.

And the first one opens high, too, http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=27240&item=1951015089 unless you're domestic, http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=3644&item=1951010746 or in the UK, http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=1488&item=1950954843
So what are these games really worth? I just picked up a bare copy of Trouble Shooter (the U.S. version of the first Battle Mania) for $5, and I expect that somebody will tell me I overpaid.

Holy Sweet Sophia, it actually exists. I've been looking for a copy of Battlemania 2, or at least a photo of it, for years. I was almost beginning to suspect that it was only available as a prototype.
I can't say it's another Radiant Silvergun, but it's a excellent shooter, kind of like a mix of Forgotten Worlds and the Dirty Pair, with lots of clever designs and a good dose of that oft-neglected shooter element, personality.
As for its true value, I've been told that it runs about $90 complete on the streets of Akihabara. But you know what? Even for $150, I'm tempted, because something tells me that it may be a long time until I see this sucker again.
The original BattleMania/Trouble Shooter is certainly worth five bucks in its American form, though the Japanese version is far tougher to find. Sixty bucks, I'd guess? Maybe geelw can give us a better answer.

Hey, someone actually bought it. Great. Now any future auctions for Battle Mania 2 will start the bidding at an even higher amount. Sigh.

Aaaaargh. What you say is too true. And I doubt I'm going to want to spend $150.00 for it anytime soon.
*Five years later kicks self for not having picked it up for only $150*
And look, it was a semi-snipe bid with 27 seconds left in the auction. Which means that "realschoko" probably put in something like a $200.00 bid. Holy Sweet Sophia indeed!
BTW, I just noticed that you're from Dayton, as in "It's great in..." I graduated from Centerville HS in 1990, and my brother and parents still live in the area. How's the collecting down that way?

Now there's a coincidence. My job has me working in the Centerville area, and visiting the high school, quite often. Heck, I might have even met your parents or brother.
Collecting's okay, but it's been a while since I came across a really great find. Those rich Centerville folk never give any decent games to Goodwill.

Hey, it's Battle Mania (JP MD) but the first one--$150.00!
I've dealt with palet_th before, and I didn't think the guy was into dealing out the shaft, but this?

Oh, I wasn't thinking that he mislabeled it. I was just noticing that anything "Battle Mania" JP is now going up for a prince's ransom opening bid on ebay. :/ All of my dealings with palet_th have been courteous and punctual.
