View Full Version : Official release lists (We need you! - UPDATED!)

This thread was originally started with the intention of collecting together any official release lists from various companies. My original post (which this has replaced) presented six Nintendo PDFs covering their various handhelds and consoles of yesteryear. Tylerwillis put forward an official US Dreamcast PDF and I later found an official Sonic PDF list.
Joe is now kindly hosting these PDFs over in the Lists (http://www.digitpress.com/lists/) section.
My intentions for this thread remain the same. I would very much like people to hunt around for official lists. I find them a worthy addition to DP - and I'm sure many of you feel the same. Anything and everything is worth bringing to your attention.
Thanks for reading, and goodluck!

Ha ha! It's so true. I've seen those lists before, and one of the first things I noticed is that there's absolutely no mention of Tengen. They released three licensed games for the NES before they gave Nintendo the finger - Gauntlet, Pac-Man and RBI Baseball. All three of those games were also released as unlicensed versions.

Somewhere someone should make a listing of all these official lists - and grab copies before they disappear (like the Dreamcast website).

Actually, I was hinting that YOU do it. :)
This thread is the perfect starting point. Just edit the top-level post with the new finds and change the title to something more official and general.
We could make a general call to see if anyone has anyother official lists.
Of course, there would still be the questions of hosting - dead links do no one any good - and where to host new finds. My website has enough bandwidth for my website and eBay stuff, but I'd hesitate to try to host a bunch of PDFs that are listed at a popular site like DP.

Good work Jon...
The Sonic one however is missing a Few games from the SMS Section
Sonic Chaos
Sonic Spinball
Dr Robotniks Mean Bean Machine
The Nintendo ones are great!

Joe, you should have a PM with a link for the Dreamcast list.
If anyone needs it immediately, before Joe can get it up, I'll post it - but this will only last until Joe can get the master listing up or my bandwidth craps out. Whichever comes first. :)
EDIT: Link removed since Joe has added it to the official DP lists.

Fantastic, Joe :)
I was hoping we could keep this thread going for others to post to randomly every so often if they find something?

Yay for lists.
I also hope that we can discover some more through this thread. Surely other companies beyond N and Sega have compiled these?

It's in a collector's blood to appreciate the label "official." That's all.
Interesting about the Tengen games, though it's what I'd expect.

I'm pretty sure the ORG Does not have every game listed. Curretly, at least.

Sad part is, neither do Nintendo's own "master list". Their Gameboy list if missing a number of titles and includes a handful of games that weren't even released in the US. I can understand omitting unlicensed games, but to see titles published by Nitnendo themselves get left off was pretty amusing.

To further Sir Etler's point, when I was researching SNES, I crossreferenced NOA's list... some of the entries made me scratch my head. :?

when i did the PAL DC list i got an "official" list from Sega of Europe, it had 2 unreleased games on it and was missing 3 released ones. Conclusion: All official lists are pretty useless as they are
1) not correct and missing stuff
2) already incorporated in our own superior lists here at DP

Exactly what I was thinking. Clearly our lists here are far better, more complete, and have way more information. But the "official" lists provided by the companies are interesting as they teach you a little bit about that company's view of what a complete list was...

... and that's a perfect example of what I'm talking about :)

That Sonic one is cool, thats the sorta thing I like to collect (all games from one franchise). I might make one for Megaman, Zelda and Mario.

Certainly does. It has had complete US lists for nearly two years now. The Euro and Japan lists are still in progress but with over 45,000 titles in our database now, it's certainly the most complete you will find.

oh yeah, sure, nintendo.com's own list of course does have that x_x
you won't find ANYTHING on the official lists that we don't have on ours, that's what we are saying, the only reason to hoard them is for the novelty
