Anybody here with a debug or dev xbox?

I just recently got a debug xbox from a member here. It's in retail mode right now and I'm trying to get a recovery disk to put it back into dev mode. I've burnt the recovery image about 10 times today on all kinds of media (dvd-r, dvd+r, cd-r, cd-rw) at all different speeds and even on 2 different burners. No matter what I do, the xbox throws back an error about the making sure the media is xbox, audio, or dvd. The games that came with the xbox work fine, but they are silvers. Retail games don't work either, but that's to be expected.

Anybody else out there ever seen this or have any idea how I should be burning this image?

If it's in retail mode then it won't run anything that's not signed by microsoft, i.e. a burned disc. You may need a mod chip.
