I was adding GTA London Special Edition to my online list and I noticed there isn't an entry for it. There's one for the GTA London expansion pack but none for the standalone game. Would you like some information on it?

Perhaps there's a Euro version I didn't know about, but the only US GTA London is http://www.digitpress.com/DP/cmf/game.cmf?gameid=26327 this one. It's under GTA Expansion Pack London 1969 in the guide. It was sold on its own, but requires the original to play.
I'm pretty sure the UK got the same package, but I could be wrong.

Do you mean to say I've got a game not known about in the DP guide? Yay for me!

We had GTA London as an expansion pack, requiring GTA1 to play it. It was later released as a stand alone game. The date is probably floating around the internet somewhere. I had a really good gta website a few weeks ago telling about it, but I've lost it and can't remember what it was called.
The code on the spine is "SLES 03389"

well what we're saying is that its not a stand alone game, but it was released as one. I mean you could buy it seperate but as kevincure said, it wont play W/O the original release. You might want to post this info in one of the PAL PS threads. Ataribuff has control of that specific release. I can add it, but dont want to stomp in on his turf. If its not showing in the next few weeks, post here agian and i'll add it.

Thanks for the info. The PAL list is, although pretty comprehensive, still work-in-progress. Ataribuff is currently on vacation as we speak but the entry will be added to the list ASAP.

I have seen this "stand alone" game many times it's nothing special and basically it's the same game as the "add-on" version.
I will have a word with AtariBuff and see if we put an extra entry in for it or list it in the description as a variation.

@tinsair
if one only runs with GTA and one does without then of course it needs an extra entry...

No, it needs GTA to run.
All this is, is just a solo release for it (specifically aimed at those that already owned GTA and didnt need to buy a second copy). Its its own thing (has its own SLUS {well the PAL version of a 3rd party publisher number} and thus should be treated as so. It was a seperate release that just happened to get released in a bundle kit at the same time. The games are exactly the same, and the discs should actually have the same catalog numbers (the stand alone and the bundle pack version) because they actually are... the same thing.

I've been looking this up and I can't find any reference to GTA:London existing as a standalone (no original GTA needed), so if it was, then deffo needs its own entry.
Any got it as the expansion pack to compare product numbers?

Like it says in the front cover: "First time ever as a stand-alone game." The SLES number doesn't match to anything (at least on my lists).

Fackin shit Rockstar.
I now wonder if the US stuff is 'looking' the same way. I coulda swore that they were just treating this as an expansion, and that bad wording was meaning that they were releasing it loose (by itself w/o GTA) for the gaming public that already had GTA. As far as I know (and remember) this thing wont fire w/o the Original GTA. Hopefully our original poster here can now put that portion of the argument to rest.
I'm gonna hunt down the Standalone case for the US one and see whats up with it now.

Just to clarify things, stand alone means it doesn't require GTA1 to play. The UK did get GTA London as an expansion pack, needing GTA1 to play, but this one isn't.
The Special Edition is a completely separate game, even though it's the same GTA London.

Yeah I have seen this stand alone game, I thought everyone knew about this one obviously not LOL

Indeed we did get this in two forms
A expansion that required GTA AND A stand alone self booting version. The Stand alone version really should have a seperate entry. imho.

I agree. A self booter does deserve its own entry. I will go on the hunt to check and see if the US London got as lucky or if they all required the GTA as a boot disc.

The US only had the expansion and the combo (GTA & London). There was no third release.

Makes it easier for me. Now why is it that we're so unlucky to not get a self booting version? Oh well, one less variant for me to have to worry about.

For whatever reason I recall the "Collector's Edition" (white-bar version) not needing the original game to boot. I don't have the set anymore, though, so I can't check. :/
