Scenario:

You're a twenty-something lad, who loves games. Thing is, you only get paid once a month, and it's middle of the month with still two weeks to go till pay day...

You have a little spare cash left in your wallet to last you for the next two weeks, BUT...

You spy a game you have been after forever and / or really rare - What do you do?

If you buy it, that leaves you with either nothing, or next to nothing for the ramaining few weeks - You still have to eat though...

Without considering things like utilities and all sorts of other things (Just consider food for this example) - Where do your priorities lie?

Do you buy the game and go without food, happy that you have what you really want, or do you let it go and know that you won't starve until you get paid?

Personally, i'd starve. After all, that game will probably last forever, whereas a meal will soon be out of my system in a matter of hours and i'd be a few quid less with nowt to show for it...

Well, I'm living with my parents, but If I was on my own, I'd visit different relatives and friends througout the weeks for meals :P

Hunger is temporary; games are forever.

Food's over rated anyhow.

... although I'm not a lad.

Well, In Illinois I can recall going into Jewel or Dominicks, and just hit the tables where they have free samples out. You could always do that! Oh, I love when they are handing out free wine samples! So, it would technically be impossible to starve. You could always borrow a few bucks from somebody, like Wimpy did in Popeye, he paid everybody back on Tuesdays. He was always eating Hamburgers, so it is possible. I say go for the game.

Depends.. you could always start playing the harmonica in the streets and get some money for food :)

I never realized there was a choice.

I'm still living at home, while going to college and working at a crappy game store. This means I have loads of disposable income, so I never have problems buying the stuff, I have problems with people mocking me for buying the stuff :embarrassed:

videogame collecting is a hobby damnit, but they just think it makes me a nerdy loser :(

Ahh whatever, I would starve easily for something.

I will go 2 weeks without eating food (only drinking water) if someone wants to give me a turbo duo!

Ummmm.. why don't you just go and buy a Duo with your disposable income? I mean, you should probably be saving your money for college loans and all that good stuff, but it's not like they're that expensive. Go ahead and buy one.

The game, 100 percent.
Screw hunger, I'll eat out of a garbage can in order to get the money for a copy of a copy of a game I really wanted.

You could always go to a fellow gamers house to show them your new find, then while they try it out raid the fridge.

I know I've put myself behind in monthly finances to pick up a few more games.

I'm getting to the point where I'd rather have a balance more towards eating than just games...heh, though there's always fun to be had with games.

Such trials we classic gamers must endure! LOL

I am waiting to buy one since the only game I really want to play (that I know off hand) is the "super uber awesome" version of Dracula X. I can't justify $150 give or take for the system to play one game that'll run me $100 to $140.

Eventually I will bite the bullet though, After the 17th of this month (credit card payments and another paycheck), and get one.
hmm maybe I'll just buy it now LOL

And college is cheap and covered, although I wish it wasn't covered... I wont get into that now. Anyway, my only bills are CC and car insurance.

Um, don't be retarded. . . people can die from starvation.

On the other hand, there are soup kitchens. . .

I would have to say, wait on the game.

Well, I've been in this situation several times, and I go with the game. Luckily I work in a restaurant so I eat at the beginning of my shift, and than pack food to take home at the end of my shift.

I feel so sorry for you, unless you enjoy working there. The food service years of my life are days I regret even though it funded my original game buying days.

buy the game, you can always eat econimically, buy supermarket foods or just bum it off your friends.

Games will come again. I've cut down and or killed all game purchasing for MONTHS at a time recently. I used to spend pretty much everything I earned on games (were talking over 1k a month most of the time). It wasn't easy, but i'm so much happier with the outcome to be able to look at my bank acct and see actual money in it and know that I can do something and not worry.

I really would prefer to get gas or eat for the next week. The game should it sell will come back. They all do. Life is a hell of a lot more important than getting some game, no matter how rare, or good it might be.

Naw, I hate working there. I'm just in it until I'm done university. It has it's pluses, such as I don't go hungry, and I can get time off really easily.

and that's how people get into credit card debt. :P

Seriously though.. I'd rather eat food and survive then starve to death over a game.

The choice needs not be made. Ramen noodles are 10 for a dollar. Maybe not the most satisfying meal in the world, but it gets you there, and they're basically free.

I vote for food but If I could buy the game and only had like 5 bucks for food I'd go for ramen some bread and chances are you have peanut butter and jelly at home already so you'd be set for 2 weeks. Thing is food to me is much more important than a game.
