I haven't had any pop-ups either. You might want to scan your PC for adware/spyware...

EDIT: Video game vixen? Perhaps this is tied to G4.

I'm not trying to flame you here, but it looks like you're fairly new to the board (as a registered user anyway, as there's no accounting for time spent lurking). Based on what I've seen in my time here, the DP staff would never introduce so drastic a change to the board as pop-up ads without a Sticky topic explaining the rationale behind the change. I mean, just look at the current discussion regarding the addition of PayPal donation button. Anytime there's downtime for the board there's always a thread explaining what happened, how long, etc. DP staffers are, imho, very up-front with us about what it takes to run this site. Pop-ups - heaven forbid - would never just be foisted on us with nary a word of explanation.

Sounds to me like you've got a nasty spyware infestation; one that gives you ads based on keywords of the sites you visit. That's pretty bad. I had that a few months ago myself. I recommend you install Firefox, Ad Aware and subscribe to the Adblocker list in Yahoo Groups, because AFAIK DP is pop-up free.

He's actually been around for a while, he just changed his user name (by registering a new acct). This is the former Long_Shawn_Silver.

I did not know that. However, this tenure as such is all the more reason to not go jumping to conclusions about pop-ups on the site.

Q: You know what happens when you assume something?

A: Somebody always spouts off that tired old cliche about what happens when you assume something.

Too too true. I'm in complete agreeance as well. Sounds like a spam attack to me, or something that came from another game site (like IGN/Gamespot) with all their constant popups.

Adaware is great, and it's free.

Yup I would suspect that there's some spyware on your computer, mainly because I've never encountered popup's on the forums or on dp's main site at all

so I would recommend Spybot Search and Destory and Ad aware for cleaning spyware

Get Firefox. it eliminates all popups and ads.

Yep, it is probably adware/spyware. I had the same problem a year ago, even two nasty homepage hijackers.

When I surfed the DP site, there were ads as well.

Firefox is good, and so is Spysweeper. I got rid of all problems by using Norton Antivirus and Spysweeper combined.

My recipe is firefox and adaware..no pop-ups.

It's definitely spyware. Get your computer scanned and quarantined.

"It's gay" to think that I'd pull a stunt like that without notifying anyone.

Not only is it gay, it's neo-zoom dweebie (sorry, just heard that one after a long hiatus from valley speak and needed to re-introduce it even if just for this post). Just to repeat the sentiment, I hit this site since inception (lazy, registered late). Never a pop up. NEVER! Seriously. Have not seen one. Seen many other things, no pop ups (praises the lord). Definitely scan the computer and maybe cut the self meds. LOL

I was just having a Daffy Duck moment.
