Trying to find out what this thing is for..I looked all over the place(internet) and can't find anything about it..

It was in a N64 Deck and N64 Carts fit into the top....What could this thing be for..?

The bottom fits into the cart slot... and carts fit in the top? Do two carts fit side by side at once or something? If that's how it's meant to be used, it could be something along the lines of Wisdom Tree's SNES game that would only work with DOOM/Wolf 3d in the slot.

Have you tried using it? I initially thought it's either a cheat device or a region bypass unit, but you probably already guessed that.

A N64 cart fits on top snug as the adapter will only fit for what I can tell a standard N64 cart../only one at a time and the adapter fits into the N64...

I can't realty see anything on this adapter that makes it no less then an extension of some type(?)..Extension for what,I don't know
It may have cross crossed wiring/connections inside of it though.....though there is not much room for anything like that...

I have yet to try it..I'm in fear that I'll burn out a N64 or Cart.. :/

Here's more pics..
The Connectors have the same amount of pins on each side...comparing to the deck and cart..

IIRC, N64 pinouts are different in Japan and the US, so you need an adaptor to swap pinouts, and that's probably what you have. The question is, which way does it swap them -- from Japan -> US or US -> Japan? You'll want to know that before plugging it in, but if it's a US system, it's probably a Japan -> US adaptor.

Ah i recognise that, it's whats known as a bridge adapter.

Us & japanese N64's are identical apart from the different shaped tabs inside the cart slot.

The bridge adapter allows you to plug us/jpn carts in without having to remove the tabs from the cart slot.

Ah, so you put the bridge adaptor in, and then you can plug US or Japanese carts into the bridge adaptor?

Ah Haaa.. :eek 2: .Now I see what it's for thanks....In the US N64 there are two square shaped tabs in the far corners inside that prevent anything but carts with notches in them to fit..

Hmm,Now all I need to get is a Japanese N64 Cart.

The shame is the Flea Market vendor I got the N64 Deck front with this on it may have had Jap N64 carts earlier in the day.
