Someone else had a pre-order Nintendo Revolution up as well. It had about 4 hours left this morning on a 1-day auction, but it looks like ebay pulled it b/c I can't find it in the listings.

I couldn't imagine why someonbe would want to pre-order something from an eBay auction in the first place but are these kinds of auctions actually illegal?

Pre-order auctions are not illegal, at least not since I checked 8 months ago, but you must be able to ship the item within 30 days of the closing of the auction. In this case, then, they were illegal, but suppose there was a new Final Fantasy due out on August 15, I could create a 5-day pre-order auction that ended July 16 and that would be legit.
