Can anyone here help me out with this one. I recently picked up the Japanese Final Fantasy Collection complete in box and close to mint at a local pawnshop for $20. Funny thing is that this place has never before or since had any import titles. I think it’s a find but it’s really hard to tell figuring that I can’t find any pricing on this game on either DP or EBAY. $20 seems like an amazing price for this title but then again, I could be wrong. Any help would be useful. I would really like to find out it’s worth simply for collecting reasons, I really don’t plan on selling it as it is a beautiful box and the games are so much more detailed than the US versions.

Well, keep in mind that Final Fantasy is even more popular in Japan than in the US, so pretty much nothing Final Fantasy is especially rare or valuable there.

$20 seems fair, but I don't think you'd make much of a profit if you sold it. It's nice to have, though. I got it too, but I think mine is the Asian version (yours may be too; seems like a large percentage of Japanese games that make their way over to the US are Asian, since I guess stores can buy those cheaper than the Japanese versions and their customers will never know the difference).

Is there any way to tell the difference between the two?

They usually say something like Made in Japan or For use in Japan only kinda stuff on the rear inserts.

My FF Collection is SLPS 01948-50. On the first page of the manual, it says "For Japan Only" under the 3 titles. I'm pretty sure it is the Japanese version.

On the 2 Asian versions of games I have (Brave Fencer Mushiden and Chocobo's Dungeon 2), it does not say "For Japan Only anywhere, and has the memory card info (and other info) in English.
