My wife and I love these games, she likes them because they are puzzle based and easy to control, and we both just find them terribly amusing. How many of each are there, and is there anything else out there like them?

The Fallout games (not the PS2 one, the PC games) are pretty easy to control, being turn-based, and the great great dialogue makes up for them being more combat-based. Tough-ish interface, but get smarter.

On NES, there's Deja Vu, Shadowgate, and Uninvited. On PC, there's Day of the Tentacle, Grim Fandango, Sam and Max Hit the Road, Space Quest I-VI, King's Quest, Police Quest, etc.

The BEST one, however, is The Longest Journey (also on PC). Do whatever you can to find it.

The magic word you're looking for is "point and click."

Here's a thread on 'em:

I also enjoy point-and-click adventures. There are a lot which are mostly on the PC.
My favorites are the Lucasarts games like Loom, The Dig, The Monkey Island series(3's the best!), Maniac Mansion, The Day of the Tentacle, the Indiana Jones games, and one of the best games, Grim Fandango. Grim Fandango plays like Monkey Island 4 but it is not as buggy.
There are also the sierra point-and-click adventures which are the King's Quest series,Freddy Pharkas Frontier Pharmacist, the Quest for Glory series(plays like a rpg too), and The Space Quest series. There are others that I enjoyed playing like Beneath a Steel Sky, and Touche': the 5th Musketeer. You can download some of these games for free on Abandonia.

Wow i was just about to make a threat like this. I just literally seconds ago beat Full Throttle for the first time. It is an AWESOME game, pretty short, but well worth the time. If she likes the monkey island games, have her try out full throttle, its more serious, but i had a blast playing it(great puzzles), im about to go play grim fandango on my xbox pretty soon.

Three words

Sam and Max

Also, Simon the Sorceror. All like Monkey island (Sam and Max is made by the same guys, lucas arts). You can download them or find the cheap on PC. There are 4 Monkey Islands as well.

They are fantastic games, I used to love and got loads cheap for the PC when I was about 8. Does anyone know of any consoles ('cept PS) that have Monkey Island on them?

Monkey Island came out for the SegaCD (not in Europe it seems) and both Loom and Indiana Jones 3 were released for the CDTV, although only in small quantities -> expensive :)

Someone beat to The Adventures Of Wiliey Beemish on the sega cd. Also Clock tower was a point and click survival horror title on the PSX.

Also Mansion of hidden souls on sega cd and saturn were along that style. Not point and click so much as a slower first person view game.

What about the Myst series too Im not sure if this was said yet.

I can't believe that no one has mentioned The Neverhood yet, in ANY of the topics listed here. Interesting point-and-click, with a unique sense of humor and visual style I've never seen elsewhere.

Day Of The Tentacle has to be my favourite point and click outing. Give it a click for sure!

Pointy and clicky games that are similar to Monkey Island hey? I am very surprised that no one has mentioned the Broken Sword series so far!!! X_x

Well, the first two anyway, as the third is more of a move-around a la Resident Evil affair...

Broken Sword: Shadow Of The Templars and Broken Sword II: The Smoking Mirror are all time classics, and should not be passed up!

Go play them. Now.

They are great, but even greater if you play them back to back, as the story of the second sort of follows on from the first.

And if you like those, then check out Beneath A Steel Sky (Which is also done by the same company, Revelation) and also Lure Of The Temptress - Which is a bit like the early Monkey Island games (And also made by the same company)

I wish they'd make another Monkey Island game in the style of The Curse Of. That game was great.

I too will vouch for the greatness of the "Broken Sword" series... Two games came out for the PS1, a stripped down version of Shadows of the Templars came out for GBA, and the 3rd title came out for Xbox.

Well, technically, the Broken Sword series has been mentioned in a Hydr0x quote before:

Baphomets Fluch, Revolution
Baphomets Fluch 2, Revolution

Baphomets Fluch is the German title of the Broken Sword series. I played the first two games on the PC and recently got Broken Sword III for Playstation 2. Not too far into it yet, but I still like it, although it's not point and click. At least, it's still a puzzle-based adventure and not an action game. The graphics and German dub is also well done.

Did anyone mention the Indiana Jones games, yet? They were among the first games I played on my 286/386 pcs.

My favorites have all been mentioned: Monkey Island, Loom, Freddy Pharkas, Day of the Tentacle, Sam&Max, Simon the Sorcerer, Beneath a Steel Sky, Legend of Kyrandia, Full Throttle ...

Hmm, I need to get a dedicated point and click PC. Maybe I can get one of the PIII 500 Mhz Dells that my firm is planning to get rid of.

Another Code - Two Memories (Nintendo DS)
is too a Point & Click Adventure. But its too easy and to fast completed. Maybe I miss only some puzzles which are not important to finish the game, but it takes me only 5-6 hours to complete the first time. Much faster, when you know what you must do.
You can play it a second time, but there is not much different I think.

So not as great as the old classic Point & Click Adventures, but too not bad, because its new. I hope there will be more in the future for the DS and much better ones. Or maybe some from the old classic games. :-P

There is a nice little program called SCUMMVM (http://www.scummvm.org) which allows you to play nearly all old Lucas Arts adventures and some other on a modern PC. There are also some console ports of this program. The GP32 has one and the PSP got one last week. And I'm sure the X-Box has one as well.

Also check out "Blade Runner" and "Toonstruck". [/url]

I was gonna say - all these people mentioning The Dig and all these other games and forgetting about this.
