I Have it and if you're into mechs, you'll love it...it's really fun....it moves a little slow through the levels, but then again it's suposse to be realistic. it's challenging, I've only been able to get to the 4th or 5th mission so far, but once you get use to the control, it gets better.

If you're a collector or an investor, I'd say YES.

If you're a gamer, I'd say NO.

The controller is already hard to find and made in limited quantity. That means that in a year it will be worth twice what it cost you to buy (yes, I'm estimating). In addition, if you have the room, it's a wonderful piece. Huge, sturdy, and lots of fun to watch in action.

From a gaming perspective... it's a good game, but it's not a $200's worth game. When I consider what I could get for $200 in its place, I'll get loads more replay value elsewhere. I'm not super "into" mech games, though. I've really enjoyed the Armored Core series, spent a little time with Tech Romancer, and consider Iron Soldier is one of the best Jaguar games, so I'm far from "hardcore".

That's my two meseta.

I pretty much agree with what's been said. I have it, and I think that anybody who's played it would agree that it's worth at least $125, and maybe $150. But it costs $200 to order. So the question really comes down to: Do you REALLY want to pilot the giant robots, bad enough to maybe "overpay" by $50-75?

I did. (By the way, I'm normally pretty cheap--it was the only new game I bought last year that cost more than $20. So maybe I'm hardcore and slightly loony in this instance.)

You could try to find it used. Funco apparently will take them as a trade-in. Good luck with that, though. Incidentally, I was curious recently and asked at my local Funco whether they were still taking orders for SB. They still were as of last weekend, so you shouldn't have to go to ebay for it just yet. But if you do look at ebay, make sure that the auction includes the controller, especially if the price is low. I've heard some rumors of sketchy game-only-without-controller auctions (and you can't play the game without the monster controller).

I've also read that sales of the game were better than expected, which makes it more likely that a sequel will be released in the U.S. A sequel would almost certainly also require the controller, so you could hope for a sequel and a possible price drop on the original package. However, since from what I understand they're only making as many of the things as they receive orders, a price drop might never happen. If a sequel comes out, I would bet that they would offer a bundle with the controller, giving you another chance to get it once you've saved up for it. Plus, whenever anybody talks sequel, they slobber at the prospect of Xbox Live support, which would be SWEET.

But then, if no sequel comes, then I bet DP's right, and you're looking at $400 ebay auctions for it in 2004.

To sum up, it's worth it if (1) the idea of piloting a mech with that pornographic dual stick controller makes your nipples really hard, and (2) either you gotta have it now, or you are worried that there will be no sequel.

I agree with what joe said. It's not worth buying for the 200.00 price tag.MechAssualt is way better and not expensive like SB.If i were you, I would go with MechAssualt instead.
