Does anyone know of a site that's entirely devoted to shmups? Doesn't have have to be for a specific system or anything, just shmups in general.

Besides, http://www.classicgaming.com/shmups/ - nope - but I am sure they're out there. I seem to recall a couple of other ones that I discovered a couple of years ago, but I can't remember what they were and I have no idea if they even exist any more... they were small fansites.

Like the name, BTW. I'm a big fan of the AK games.

You really don't need more than these guys. Check out the site then browse the forum for more questions. Then check out their fave links and I think you'll be set. Shmups = greatest game genre ever.

Thanks for the link, very nice reviews and forums,i just signed up on there.

And yeah, Alex Kidd in Miracle World was the first game I ever played when I was 3 so the series has some sentimental value for me. Still enjoy them now, played Shinobi World just a few days ago.

No problem.

And that's funny, Alex Kidd was the first game I ever played that was my own, too. It wasn't the first game I'd ever played, I'd been playing for a few years before that - mainly arcade, though... but the SMS II + Alex Kidd was the first game and system that was truly mine. Lot's of fond memories. The theme to Alex Kidd in Shinobi World makes me all nostalgic. 8-)

If you're interested in game-specific shmup sites, here's two of the best Gradius sites I've found:

http://www.classicgaming.com/gradius - Gradius Base
http://www.gamestone.co.uk/gradius/ - Gradius Home World

http://www.shmups.com LOL

Worked for me! It's actually a pretty nice site, but I haven't browsed it for about a year or so. :)
