Moon Cresta by Gremlin/Sega comes to mind. Others have all had some direction that wouldn't move because the joystick was broken (i.e. Ms. Pac Man).

Maximum Force.

I have a high tolerance for crap, so I tend to play my credits worth on just about anything. This one made me break down* and put the gun back into the holster part way through the game.
To be fair. This was a few years back at a DnB where House of the Dead 2 and SF Rush 2049 were sitting just feet away. Maybe...just *maybe* the experience of Maximum Force was above mediocre for 1997...but it was hell in 2001.

This chinese restaurant had one in the lobby called "Ninja Clown." Played for a few minutes then realized how terrible it was.

Honestly, I have no problem walking away from a Tekken machine, of any vintage. I don't know why. I like to play them single and multiplayer at home, but just really don't care in the arcade unless I'm playing a friend. It isn't that way with other fighters though. VF or any Capcom fighter don't have the same effect.

The Fast and the Furiouse...
think Cruisn USA meets NFSU2.
take the bad things from both, and voila!
im pretty sure it uses the Cruisn' engine...

This one I played in England. I put the coin in then pretended to pass out and some guy rolled me to an abandoned warehouse and put a paintball gun in my hand. So I started screaming and shooting "GOT YOU YOURE DEAD!" at the fake zombies I thought it was totally real because I was hypMotised!

Well any of the deer hunter games but also games were you put the quarter in and something is messed up on the machine itself
it depends though
The mini Super Mario Bros. pinball.
I wouldn't say it was "So Bad", but I got bored because it was way too easy and I kept getting 3 free credits every game :P . It gave a free at 7 million, 14 million, and 21 million. Well, if you go down the pipe to get to the bonus level, you get 30 million for completing it! (which is very easy).
I usually left it with around 30 credits, then found some little kid to let play out the credits.
I agree on the Fast and the Furious... I was playing that with a friend at a burger place while we were waiting for a table, they called our name and neither of us had any regrets for jumping up and leaving the game.

I wonder how many people will get that reference? LOL. I saw that clip, hilarious.
Anyway, I've wasted tons of credits over the years. MK's, Street Fighter's - sometimes I would try to play with a broken stick or missing buttons, but other times it was pretty useless. For example, if you have 15 minutes and there's two identical machines and you REALLY just wanna have fun, who wouldn't just cut their losses and try the other machine? Racing games can be horrible when the steering isn't balanced properly - same problem that happens when you hold the analog stick while booting some games.

Let's see, I don't have alot of arcade experience but two titles that clearly stand out are Phozon and The Tower of Duraga (what a piece of shit!). Thanks alot Namco! You made great titles like Pac-Man, Dig Dug, Pole Position, and Galaga, then kill a part of me inside with these two rejects.

Ive never been able to play Lunar Lander....I just suck at it horribly I guess. Every time I got a chance I tried to figure this game out, only to die in a flaming crash.
:/
Its one game that makes me feel like an absolute retard. I bet alot of people here are awsome at it...

Half the fun is crashing.
I used to see how fast I could loop the game, crashing and crashing...
Yeah I was never really into reading instruction books either.
