Finally. The last 2 games came today. Stadium Events and Dragon Warrior 3. My US NES collection is finished! I took some pics of everything, and all the other shit in my room. I hope to take 2 or 3 pics of everything all bunched up this weekend. All the other pics are in the link. Thanks to DamienC for hosting my pics, check out his site by removing the /port/ from the link. :D

A burning question: now what?
Do you go and complete a different system? Complete the Famicom set? (yeah right LOL) Sell the NES lot and start a new NES collection?
I've been sitting on a very complete set of VB (USA release, includes Wario and Red Alarm demo labels and tall playable VB demo stand) for the last 4 years or so. Thought about getting complete JP version but never got around to that.

Thanks guys. :) Appreciate it. A load off my mind to have this done....
Now, I go for Genesis. Prices are dropping like crazy, and I need less than 300 to go. Yay :D

congrats port.
doesnt change the fact that you smell like crap.
Wow. Every US NES game, and it looks like only about 40 of them are boxed. For shame! ;) I think I have that many boxed and I have less than 100 NES carts! Maybe that should be your next goal.

Awesome, simply awesome. 8-) I hope to be there some day (only 400 or so to go).

EXCELLENT! Congrats.. now.. as one collector to another..
- Are you planning on getting all the manuals & boxes?
- I noticed all the loose games have no dust sleaves..
- did you play all those games?
- Did you clean all those games?? :)
- You should maybe try to focus on accessories now..
I'm not nuts about getting complete games myself (my goal is every game + every manual.. and I'm less than 200 games & 500 manuals away).. But I am anal about my accessories.. I got a couple dozen of them, and all boxes.. with all manuals.. only unboxed thing I own is ROB..
Well.. congrats..
LK
P.S. If you're crazy about Genesis.. drop me a line (leonki@yahoo.com). I got an ok collection.. but never use it.. I have a complete boxed NOMAD (with the batt cover!) that I might be willing to sell for the right price!

very inspiring to a would NES completist (150 or so to go), so tell the story, how did you go about it? funco? ebay? finds? trades? highest amount paid? got the porn games?
heh the first 600 were easy for me...even now i'm finding games i need for under $5, anybody thinking about NES completion should get on the stick now. they are still readily available and fairly cheap, just like 2600 games used to be!
2003 is my year of the 16 bit systems, its actually nice to have some systems you can find carts for, and i have 100's to go on the gen and SNES...maybe 2004 i'll go after the N64 in a big way.
once again, my hat is off to you, now write the saga of your collection.

If you're ever unsure about "how many games are there for that system", use the chart on THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE (http://www.digitpress.com/lists.htm). Almost every US system is covered there now. The cart counts are US-only.
Incidentally, it's 835 including Sachens.

/me wishes there was a way to quote everybody. :)
@Six Switch - That is a 311 flag :D They're my favorite band.
@GENESISNES - I don't have every sports game yet, and there should be no rush to. They go for nothing and nothing on eBay, and retail they still go for dick. I'm more interested in getting every other game first :) And yes, that SMB2 mug rules. Hard to drink out of, because when full, it ways a ton.
@butta - At least I don't eat my own crap. hoooooooooooooooo
@Keir - Check out the nesboxes.jpg on the link. I also have about 150 more boxes crammed into the left portion of the stuff.jpg, but you can't see 'em. I didn't take a pic of em, but the Sachen boxes are down to the left of my door. I think I need about 300-350 more boxes.
@Dobie - Patience is key. A good thing I did was lock down on a bulk lot that has a LOT of stuff you need and a reserve not met. Then contact the seller and ask about getting your choosing. I did this, and got my choosing of 250 games I needed, for $700.
@leonk: - I hope to get every box and manual, yes. A feat I plan on doing slowly over the next few years. No dust covers, mainly because every contact is facing in, and no dust gets in there. Most of the my boxes have dust covers in them. I have yet to play every game. Not neeeeearly enough time, especially juggling new current system games, and the rapid influx of Genesis games. I think I have about 60 I need to play. The game contacts on the ones I haven't played are probably a mess, but if I've played it, it most likely got the isopropyl treatment. Cosmetically, some carts need to be replaced. (My blue Crystal Mines is green :P)
Accessories. /me takes 3 advil. Sure! Why not?! :D
@christianscott - Basically, 200 were picked up before I said "I want every NES game", from Funcos when I was reminiscing, and from when I was younger. From there, I hit up eBay for a few titles, and then I got the 250 game lot I mentioned earlier. From there, it was half eBay, half in the wild (Including Funco). I did very little trading; maybe about 30 games.
I have all three panesians, one from a trade, and the two others snagged silently from eBay. The eBay ones were boxed, and the third, Hot Slots, I bought the box from the guy I traded to get the cart from (neschampion). Assuming I ever finish my deal with Nick, I'll have photocopies of all three panesian manuals. :)
The highest amount I paid for a single games was $300 for the sealed Myriad 6 in 1.
And yes, do it now! Prices are low (Look at Stadium Events... dropped down to $250 from $300-$350!), and sources are plentiful.
I hope to do SNES after Genesis, while doing Virtual Boy and the 5200 simultaneously. My overall life goal is to get every Nintendo system cart every made, period, from NES, SNES, N64, VB, GB, GBC, and GBA. A HUGE task, but I got 30 years ;)
@moycon - My total is probably around 850-860. I'm not sure, may be less, may be more. This number is boosted by all the random variants I have, and its definitely over 850 if you count PAL games. (Like a SMB/DH and SMB/DH/WCTM variant). I'll still need some more variants.
@mayhem - You may be able to see a Beetle car jar on my dresser in the first pic. $50 a week goes in, eventually, a grey NWC will come out :D
Thanks guys :D
