Ive been searching but havent been able to turn up anything- does anyone know, or have a link to, a list of Euro Mega Drive launch titles? The online guide only has genesis launch games (landmarks).

Sonic 1 was a pack-in, not a launch title. The Mega Drive UK & Europe release was Christmas 1989. Sonic 1 was released mid-1991

The US launch was in time for Christmas '89, but the PAL one wasn't until almost a year later in October 1990.

I believe the following were all launch titles:

Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle
Altered Beast
Arnold Palmer Tournament Golf
Columns
Ghouls 'n Ghosts
Herzog Zwei
Last Battle
Space Harrier II
Super Hang-On
Super League
Super Monaco GP
Super Thunder Blade
SuperReal Basketball
Thunder Force II
World Cup Italia '90

The following were all released before the end of 1990, and some of these may have also been present at launch, but I can't be sure:

Arrow Flash
Battle Squadron
Budokan: The Martial Spirit
Castle of Illusion starring Mickey Mouse
Cyberball
Dynamite Duke
ESWAT Cyber Police: City Under Siege
Forgotten Worlds
Ghostbusters
Golden Axe
Hard Drivin'
Michael Jackson's Moonwalker
Mystic Defender
Phantasy Star II
Rambo III
Revenge of Shinobi
Strider
Sword of Sodan
Truxton
Twin Hawk
Zany Golf
Zoom!

Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle
Altered Beast
Space Harrier II
Super Thunder Blade

I agree that those 4 games were PAL launch titles.

Hm.. didnt know that. Thought Sonic was more like Mario and got included from the begining.

Sonic was released as a knee-jerk reaction to Mario. Not that SEGA will ever admit to that. :P

It would be nice if you posted facts as facts and guesswork as guesswork. The only thing more irritating than a +1 poster is someone who misdirects other members.

All I'm asking is that you try harder.
