alright, strange question,

A friend of mine just got an X-box for cheap and had asked if there were any games on it suitable for a 7 year old girl. Xbox is the one system I don't own. I'm at a complete loss of even whats on the system and can't think of anything that might apply.
anyone have any suggestions I can throw her way?

(and no..dead or alive isn't a good idea ;-) )

not much, outside of classic game comps, and maybe monkey ball deluxe

Munch's Odssey
Isn't there a Bust a move for XboX?

Also the Megaman collection would be a good choice. Some kids have a hard time with the freedom invloved with 3D movement. So a good 2D collection might actually be more appealing to a child.

Girls can play anything boys can.

I play with an 8 year old girl on Halo 2 sometimes.

The girls I know, tend to like games by genre and style

For example, most don't like the really dark themes.

Popular genres are platformers, and puzzle games.

This is just a generalization, not a stereotype, no human being can actually fit into any mold. There are exceptions to everything.

I recommend Beyond good and evil. Dark themed, but interesting characters and female hero.

If she likes singing, there's Karaoke Revolution on the Xbox. There's also a couple of DDR titles out there.

Anyway, it depends what's her interests.

True that girls can play whatever boys play, but Halo 2 is rated 16+ at PEGI. I would never let my kid play it.
Anyways, a better console for the kids is Gamecube :) Got many colorful and childfriendly games.

If she likes Star Wars remotely, that Lego Star Wars game is great for kids that age. Okay, and adults too.

Some other games for the Xbox my kid enjoys include:

Egg Mania
Scooby-Doo! Mystery Mayhem
Scooby-Doo: Night of 100 Frights
SpongeBob SquarePants: The Battle For Bikini Bottom
Nickelodeon Party Blast
Namco Museum
Crash Bandicoot

I definatly would have recomended the cube instead of the xbox, but they got the box for like 50$ on a whim, and she just asked if there were any games that thier kid might like (her and her husband play games too)

I believe there is Barbies Horse Adventure on Xbox.

Altho from eveything i hear and see that might be the next form of torture to man kind.

I was just looking thru my Xbox games and was going to suggest some but even the ones rated T have swears/sexul referances.

But there are the Crash games, DDR, Digimon world 4, some disney games(Finding Nemo, Skateboarding, Haunted Mansion, Polar Express Madagascar etc), Fairly OddParents Breakin Da Rules, Frogger, Fuzion Frenzy, Harry Potter games, Midway Arcade Treasuers,

I stopped at the M's so thats approx half of the Xbox child friendly library.

I wouldn't recomend anything dealing with Xbox or a GameCube for a child... Kids under 12 aren't too good at taking care of disc based games. Get them a used Nintendo 64, and the buttload of games you can get for under $10.

Unless Xbox is your only option, what they said^^

Yeah, I think 2D is always a good place to start. And what better way than Mega man? :D That being said, I'll also throw out a recommendation for Sonic Mega Collection plus.

I don't think the fact she's a girl makes an issue (in fact, I loathe the fact that there's 'girl' games, since that pretty much implies there are 'boy' games -- and I just don't see what game there is that a boy can play that a girl won't/can't) -- but a 7 year old kid is another story entirely.

As has been mentioned, XBox ain't the best system for kids, but really, at 7 she doesn't need that many games anyway. It's probably best to rent a few (of course staying away from Full Spectrum Warrior and the like) and let her decide what she likes.

Another good option is using the XBox with emulation to play older games. You can just load some games to the HD and voila....

Oh yeah, and they should have gotten her a Hello Kitty Dreamcast. Wait -- I mean someone should buy ME a Hello Kitty Dreamcast. Color me fruity but I really like those 8-)

How 'bout something like Cell Damage? I think that'd be fun for a 7-year-old

As was mentioned, I don't see why girls shouldn't be allowed to play anything that you'd permit a boy of her age to play.

Anyway, here's some Xbox games that I'd let young kids play, regardless of their sex:

Sonic Adventure

Toejam & Earl III

Crash Team Racing (it sucks, but unless they've played Mario Kart, how would they know any better? ;) )

Capcom Vs SNK 2 / Marvel vs Capcom 2 (MAYBE, depending on how mature I consider those playing it)

Yes, there is (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=Ultra+Bust-a-Move+X-Box&btnG=Google+Search), and it's the solution to your friend's dilemma, Blitz.

Seriously, if you give someone that age a deep horror like SH, it'll cause nightmares for sure.

A sensible response is something like a simple driving game. Not too much customisation abilities needed either. And it's completely non violent/disturbing, just cruising. Might be good practice for real driving.

Shenmue II maybe, or possibly Jet Set Radio Future.

Toejam and Earl would be a suggestion as well, but that has a lot of "questionable" dialog.

i would'nt say that.. i know a kid who is about 9 years old who takes very good care of his GC games, judging them "mint" and stuff, it's funny. but i definetly concur about the N64, just get a bunch of child-friendly games and a system for cheap.

Yeah, Bust-a-Move is the crack of puzzle games. I was sweriously addicted to Bust-a-Move for a while. Had to quit cold turkey. There's some addictions they won't let into rehab for.

Geeze, thanks for the comment! Funny, but playing DA doesn't make me feel more "like a man"... (BTW, if there's only one female character to choose from and she's an archer or a sorceress, there's no way in hell I'm picking her. I always play a fighter.)
