PS3 and Xbox 360...
Capcom announced Biohazard 5 / Resident Evil 5 for both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, the director will be Jun Takeuchi, and a number of original Biohazard development staffs will be involved. The story will continue from where Biohazard 4 left off, and the control scheme will be based on Biohazard 4 as well.

since the rev's specs arent final, and this game is obviously mutli platform, there is always a possibility it could appear on the rev.

I can almost see capcom drooling in anticipation of making RE games on a good selling system for the first time in 5 years :)
Yes, RE series was great on the GC, because I happened to have one. But if anyone even BOTHERS to say it would not have sold better on the PS2/xbox, I'm sure half the forum will flame you for me.

How many truly "exclusive" RE titles did the GameCube get? The only one I can think of is Zero, with 4 supposedly coming to PS2 around the end of the year.
There was the REmake, and it looked great, and ports of 2 and 3, but I didn't buy any of them because I had the PS versions.

If you're looking for GCN rarities, check out RE 2 and 3.

Well, I think that article was written before 2 & 3 were re-re-released. :) I can find them around pretty easily but the damn things still retail for full price. O_O

The "exclusive" deal was just that it would be released for the GC well before any other systems, kinda like the GTA series on the PS2.
And RE1 was redone so much that it basically was a new game, I wish they would do something like that with a lot of games (the rest of the RE series that weren't redone, a lot of the FF and DW series, etc...)

From IGN:
July 20, 2005 - The latest issue if Famitsu is home to first details and screens for Resident Evil 5. As we reported earlier, Capcom is bringing this next generation survival horror title to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, with veteran developer Jun Takeuchi serving as producer.
Since our initial story, we've learned more details on the game. Takeuchi is somewhat vague in his discussion of what we can expect from the title gameplay wise, revealing only that Resident Evil 4, with the wealth of changes made by director Shinji Mikami, caused excitement amongst Capcom's development staff as a whole, particularly those who had worked on Resident Evil for the PlayStation and PlayStation 2. Even with the changes, Takeuchi states, there was no mistake that you were playing Resident Evil. We can apparently expect something that, similarly, maintains the taste of Resident Evil while featuring big changes from the traditional play format.
Images shared by the magazine were taken from a two minute high definition video clip in which the game's main character finds himself in the alleys of a desert city, being chased by a mysterious group of enemies. In describing the setting and content of the game, Takeuchi recalls a scene from the film Black Hawk Down, when a US chopper crashes to the ground and is swarmed by natives. The theme of getting out of a tight corner is a staple of the original Resident Evil, and is something that the development staff wants to work on with RE5.
The video does not actually reveal the nature of the enemies that are pursuing the main character. The primary enemy is a new element to the game and it's currently a closely guarded secret. The enemy are meant to come after you in great numbers, conveying the sense of insanity of hoards of natives that Takeuchi took away from Black Hawk Down. We can apparently expect something along the lines of the primary enemy in Resident Evil 4, who spoke a language that you were unable to understand and were more advanced than the zombies that have appeared in previous RE games. Takeuchi and crew are actually working on ways to make the enemy even more expressive this time around.
The development staff is paying extra attention to the game's environments, with Takeuchi stating that one of the tastes of past Resident Evil games was that of the player walking slowly through a dark and damp environment. This time, we can also expect wider, brighter environments, including scenes of intense sunlight.
As expected of a next generation game, RE5 runs in high definition, and one of the things the development staff wanted to do was use the new visual power at its hands to communicate the sense of atmosphere to the player. The images in the trailer clip are meant to convey a sense of high temperature. In fact, heat is a central theme to the game, with Takeuchi suggesting that when it's particularly hot, you'll want to cool down in a cave.
With regards to main character and background setting, Takeuchi states that we should be able to figure out the main character when we consider that members of the development team that created the original Resident Evil are working on this game. This would suggest that the main character pictured in the magazine is Chris (the bearded character in all the screenshots does resemble an older version of Chris).
Takeuchi won't reveal when we'll be able to play Resident Evil 5, only stating that we'll have to wait until the next generation systems are available. He assures us that out of all of Capcom's game projects, this one is getting the most attention, and this is why development will take some time.
A Capcom representative reveals to the magazine that a Tokyo Game Show showing for Resident Evil 5 is not out of the question. IGN is hoping that, with Sony's PlayStation Meeting press conference scheduled for Thursday afternoon and Microsoft's Xbox Summer scheduled for this coming Monday, we'll get a glimpse even sooner than that.
YEAH CHRIS!!!!! HELLLA YESS its about freakin time hes always been my favorite RE character now let hope claire and the rest of the gang will make appearances also
AND.... tie up all the lose ends that were left from Code Veronica
What u wanna bet this takes place in that city in Europe that you cant type on this board for some freakin reason? that is where claire and Chris were heading at the end of Veronica after all ;)

did over 400,000 well.
For a game with RE4's profile (and development/marketing budget), 400,000 copies is a huge disappointment.
It'll be interesting to see how the PS2 version sells by comparison.

that's complete bullshit.
Like IGN's über-bullcrap statement(as usual) that it will strictly run in HD.
The game runs strictly in high-definition
This would mean that about 5%(those with a HDTV) of gamers would be able to play this game and the others(with normal won't.
So this is surely NOT the reason it won't be on rev.
time will tell if rev will get a Resi version.
Maybe one which fits it's "secret" controller better.
Hell, maybe rev is simply not powerful enough.Who knows?
Has Capcom even Rev dev.-systems yet?

I hope it comes to the Revolution, but if it doesn't I can't blame Capcom. Nintendo IMO makes great hardware and software, but they're just too bass akwards about it. No HD (which isn't a big deal to me, but it is to a lot), weird disk formats. It seems like they WANT to stay behind the times as far as technology was concerned.
You'd think after the failure of the N64 due highly in part to the use of the cartridge format, and everyone bitching about how much of a pain in the ass and exspensive it was N would have smartened up and gotten with the times as far as technology goes.
It won't suprise me that much if like 95% of the rev games are first party.
With all that said I look foward to RE 5 on the Xbox 360, since I'm not gonna pay $500, or whatever crazy price Sony plans on selling the PS3 for.

Damn is that all SOME PPL care about is freakin Tech specs and sales records? fuck that $hit man why dont you just relax and start ACTUALLY ENJOYING THE GAMES instead of sweating the small stuff and flaming other members of this board who have more in common with you than you might think I.E. love of video games ?
Who gives a $hit if a multibillion dollar company like Capcom sales a few 100,000 more or less copies of a game? Do you freakin ppl have stock or money invested in Capcom or what? O_O
Waaaaay to much negative vibe on this forum lately and more flaming than I have seen in years Im think that a few of you might feel more at home on the Gamefaqs forum or with the IGN TECH SPEC GEEK ELITE forum. ;)

there is no way in hell that capcom is a multibillion dollor company. maybe in their history, they have made 1 bill, but they make so many stupid decisions, and they haven't had a real hit in so many years. ok now that all of my Ranting is out of the way :D
Looks at though might be a while before any of us get to experience RE5 on ANY system:
From Gamespot:
When Takeuchi was asked about the game's release, he avoided giving a straight answer, only stating jokingly that it will come out "before the launch of PlayStation 4." Later, Takeuchi explained that projects for next-generation consoles will easily spend three to five years in development and that work on RE5 is expected to take a bit of time, since it's currently Capcom's main focus.

The only reason I care about sales numbers is if it determines whether a sequel is made or whether a game appears on a platform at all - I think a lot of people feel that way and IMO, it's a valid reason to care. Other than that, I don't give a fuck. Personally, as someone who will buy the 360, PS3 and Revolution, it won't hurt me if RE5 isn't on Nintendo's console... but I weep for those in a position where it will matter.
Does anybody have the video ?
Resident Evil 5 Trailer Pulled
Officially, the trailer was never to air publicly.
by Fran Mirabella III
July 26, 2005 - Citing an official press document from Sony's PlayStation Meeting 2005, Capcom asked Internet publications to remove any sign of movies or stills taken from the Resident Evil 5 trailer. According to a company official, the trailer was never to be filmed in the first place and will be aired officially in the near future. No real window of time was given, however.
Those who were lucky enough to catch the wildly popular Japanese trailer were treated to a pretty impressive vision of what the future of Resident Evil looks like. A lone soldier finds himself in a desert town, quite similar to the scenes from Somalia featured in Black Hawk Down. The wavy distortion and haze of the hot climate is a continuing theme. As he searches the city he is startled by a large flock of black birds. The trailer then cuts to a team of undead-like creatures staggering under the bright mid-day sun; soon after, the creatures shadows paint nearby walls, showing they are now running. Soon they close in on the lead character, he spins around to greet them with his sleek, modern pistol and the trailer abruptly ends with the teaser "Biohazard" (known as Resident Evil to the rest of the world.
Be sure to check the official screenshots for scenes from the trailer, but it looks like we'll be waiting -- very impatiently, we might add -- for the official release of the trailer. We speculate this will come before or at the time of the Tokyo Game Show 2005, which takes place in mid-September. Stay tuned.

You need to checkout REmake. Don't think of it as RE1 with new graphics. They rebuilt it from the ground up with so much new stuff that its almost like a new game.
