This game is very controversial. It is indeed in my top 5 favorites, but what do you all think?

[ BTW, my site is www.gta3libertycity.cjb.net ]

Hmm?

This game never gets old for me. It has that strange gamer aura to it which speaks to you and says "never put me in a box in your basement". Well at least until Vice City comes out!

I would LOVE to play it, but for some reason, my PS2 crashes with every GTA3 disc I pop in.

Bought a used one. Nice, clean copy. Crashed 3 times during opening sequence.

Returned it for another clean, used copy. Crashed 3 times as I tried to enter the car at the beginning 'escape" sequence.

Went back, retruned it, and bought a NEW OFF THE SHELF version. Same thing, same crashing, same nothing.

Regardless of how great a game is, this much aggravation has turned me off completely. And my system's fine. Runs DVDs, all PS2, PS1 games with nary a glitch, skip, freeze or lock up. Don't know why, but it just hates this game.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to Vice City, but I'm really bored with GTA3 at the moment. Great game for last year, ready to move on.

You left out the "I've had the game for a while on both PS2 and PC but have yet to install it or try it out. Yes I'm that interested...." category. ;)

@Sniderman, Call Sony and tell them that. I did that because my PS2 wouldn't play parappa or SSX but played everything else just fine. They covered my system under warranty and I got it all repaired nice and new.

There's nothing like pullin' out the ole' sniper rifle and picking off pedestrians from a strategically advantageous location. Sometimes, I'll change my character from the regular guy to the black prostitute and start shooting cops and pimps. Pam Grier kicks ass!

I would be curious how many people on the board beat the game without using a single cheat. I have talked to about 50 people who own the game and not one of them has beat the game without using a cheat. I think the game is a lot more fun with the cheats.

I beat it without using a cheat, if by "beat it" you mean "got to the end". I was getting bored with the cab and fire truck missions so after the game "ended" I went and got the cheats and went nuts.

GTA3 is a great stress reliver. Walking around taking your frustrations out on everyone around you brightens your day!
