I was just thinking while surfing Ebay about the first systems up for auction there. I.E. the very first Atari 2600 put up for bids, or the very first NES. I thought it might be interesting to see those early auctions for each system, how they were presented, descriptions, and final bid price and compare them to todays entries. Anybody know of a site that could have these?

Ebay removes items after 90 days so there'd be no chance of this :( that'd be cool if there was though.
Ebay has blocked al the old auctions in the webarchive :(

Look here:
http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://ebay.com
When an archived page comes up, DON’T DO A SEARCH! It will link to the current EBAY site. You have to go through the “click on” auction categories to find videogames. Not exactly what you requested, but pretty close.

So how does that work? Someone has saved some ebay pages from random dates in the past. Was there a time when you could look at the item and ebay put a stop to it?

Some sites restrict spiders from accessing them because of load issues.
Can you imagine a site like eBay getting spidered / checked / cached by Google, Yahoo, or the Wayback Archive? All at the same time, multiple times per day? They'd lose a lot of bandwidth, not to mention precious slots for their visitors.
