Is there gonna be another SF game ever? SF 4? etc. Haven't heard anything in a long while from the boys at Capcom... is there a known company statement from them regarding the future (or lack thereof) of the SF franchise?

good question, wasn't Capcom Fighting Evolution claimed as the last SF like game to be made?

Street Fighter 4 is apparently in development. I forget where I saw that news (and I don't think it was official). I think some employee just said something along the lines of... "We haven't forgotten our Street Fighter fans and something is in the works." That isn't word for word, but it'll do. I saw this yesterday.

What the hell?

Relax. It's only been two years since CvS. Have you been conditioned in this day and age of yearly Madden updates to expect yearly updates to every videogame in existance?

For fuck's sake, it's not Tomb Raider. You actually want more hype in your diet?

And I'd assume they meant "last" as in "most recent". Tool.

I would like to see a Final Installment with SF4 with the Graphics engine of SF3 or a mesh of SF3 and guilty gear 2-D goodness.

Although I wouldn't mind seeing a new Street Fighter, if there was nothing substantial to distinguish it from the SF games that I've already played and own, my primary reaction would be "what's the point?"

SFA3 is still one of the best 2D fighters that I've ever played. If I crave newer fighters, I can try Guilty Gear XX Reloaded or GG Isuka.

I don't think we've had enough renditions of Street Fighter II yet. I'm still waiting for Super Deluxe Street Fighter Alpha II Max Triple X Turbo Enhanced, myself.

I would love to see a 3D verison of SF that's completely revamped and is actually meant to be played in 3D as opposed to what they've done with the EX series. It is EX right? I love SF 2 and 3 but enough already. Third strike is the pinnacle of 2D brawling, let's try to match that in 3D now Capcom!

In regards to Street Fighter being dead... no. Fans of the competitive aspect of this game are keeping it alive, the Street Fighting and fight game community is as alive as ever, with EVOLUTION 2005 less than 3 weeks away, see evo2k.com , there's still tons of good stuff out there for classic sf games.

In regards to SF4, yes there is something being worked on.

At the recent Comic Con International in San Diego, I was able to attend the Street Fighter discussion panel with representatives from Udon and Capcom of America/Japan... a question was asked regarding the future of the SF franchise and a possible SF4. Both Udon employees and the Capcom reps stated that they have not forgotten about their fans, and to expect something in the future... that future regarding to the next installment of the main SF titles.

Can't wait!

Also, if you attend EVO in Vegas, you can actualy catch the world premiere of Manga Ent.'s Street Fighter Alpha 2 anime movie.... and a documentary screening of "Bang the Machine" ... this event can't be missed!

Ummm...no. SF is mine. You can have Tekkin. Thank God I got Samurai Shodown back...I'd have hated to lose that one to 3D.

Damn, I sure do hope it finally comes out. We've been waiting since 2003 when it was supposed to come out. Oh well.

Thanks for posting the Street Fighter news. That was really appreciated and makes me happy.

Every fighting game thread I've ever read has angry people in it. Must be all the testosterone.

Finally. More SFs. I would like to see the main series progress some more. I've though that SF3 had been surpassed graphically when I played Guilty Gear X and that was years ago.

No, I totally hated SF3, and I've loved just about all other SF games. I just dont think they can take the series anywhere it hasnt been, and there are already so many games that do that style of fighting game much better.

What the hell was it with SF3 that they decided to take out most of the original charaters? I though 80% of the new charaters were incredibly lame.

Hadokens are stupid. Virtua Fighter is a superior fighting game series that does not involve supernatural fire squirting out of anyone's ass.

Please do not respond to this blatant troll. ;)

Fuck 3D

And Third Strike is probably the best fighting game ever.

I couldn't play SF3. The attacks didn't feel like they were going far enough, and I couldn't parry worth SHIT. I also didn't like the cheap boss character or new guys. I think it was good for a lot of people, but just not me. Graphically and sound-wise, though, it totally rocked, and at least you could watch vids of guys pulling off all kinds of cool shit.

In my opinion, the Street Fighter series was dead after the stopped making games for it for the SNES.

It's not dead, but it's getting there. SF4 is probably years away, and capcom, knowing how little profit there is in 2d fighters, isn't going to spend a hell of a lot of money in developing it.

Attendance for the tourneys are down as well, in Japan and in the States. The days of the 100 man Marvel 2 weekly tourneys have passed, and after a series of crappy releases, like the CvS games, Fighting Jam, and the, oddly enough, unpopular Hyper SF2, a lot of the players just don't get into it like they used to.

Street Fighter Alpha 3 is probably on my Top 5 Favorite Fighting games. I played the hell out of that game. CvS2 is pretty good too.

However, I didn't like SFIII. It's all about SFA3.

I'd like to see a Street Fighter 4. I'd like to see it be new and exciting - the series went from being top dog to this piece of shit that Capcom farms out when they have an empty spot in their release schedule.

There's plenty of life in 2D and imagine how beautiful a game could look running on next gen systems? Capcom should start from scratch and build something worthy of the SF legacy. All of this SF 2.7, Street Fighter Alpha + whatever shit needs to stop.

Id like to see a brand new story, bring back all of the SF SFA, and SF thrid strike characters plus a shitload of new ones. The old characters should be changed a little though, maby ryu has completed his quest or somehting and is now a master even surpassing Akuma. Along with a bunch of brand new stages, all the originaal street fihter stages should be included as welll, but souped up a little. Its all about evolution, Capcom should let the story evolve a little.
