:frustrated:

Who wants to e-mail him about JSR or Bart vs. the Space Mutants?

This is just the beginning. Soon it will get stricter. Games like NARC where you can do drugs will be flagged. Or partial nudity. I am sure this GTA / Hot Coffee thing is the tip of the censory iceberg.

That's okay. I don't want this politician elected. It's a fair trade. Let's see who gets their wish first.

I am as much against government involvement in personal issues as you can be, but what has been censored? No one told Rockstar that they can't do anything they want in their games.

That New York Pol asked ATARI not to release their game (in what was more likely a timely publicity stunt.) However, no one told ATARI that they cannot release their game.

All that really happened is that the ESRB changed GTA from age 17+ to age 18+

That's it. Companies can still make games. Those games still will be rated. Stores can still choose what games to carry/not carry.

Just like last week.

No one needed to; consider how quick most major retailers were to pull the game from their shelves as soon as news hit that the game's rating would shift from M to AO. Apparently, adult customers not allowed to make decisions as to which games they should play based on ratings.

REMEMBER JOHN 3:16 "HE LOVED THE WORLD SO INCREDIBLE MUCH THAT HE GAVE US FOUR GOTTEN SON" AND THAT TRANSLATES TO MEANING OF THE FOLLOWING: "IF GOD LOVES US THEN THEREFORE WHY DO WE PLAY VIDEOGAMES WITH TITTIES AND PIXELS WHEN WE COULD BE PESTERING OTHERS AND ANNOYING THEM INTO THE ARMS OF OUR LORD AND MASTER!?!?!?!"

DO YOU BELIEVE IN HEAVEN AND HELL MR. EVILDEAD2099 BECAUSE I KNOW WHERE I'LL BE GOING (AFTER GOING TO BED AND THE GROCERY AND THE PSYCHIATRIST DOCTOR OF JESUS FAITH AND PASSING THE CHURCH OF CHRIST, SCIENTIST WHERE I DO NOT ATTEND BUT IT'S ALONG MY WAY TO THE DOCTOR) AND THAT PLACE IS A LOT HAPPIER FAITHFUL BEGOTTEN SHEEP SHEPARDS THAN THE PLACE YOU'LL BE GOING!!! I HOPE YOU SLEEP OKAY AT NIGHT!!!

"IF GOD LOVES US THEN THEREFORE WHY DO WE PLAY VIDEOGAMES WITH TITTIES AND PIXELS WHEN WE COULD BE PESTERING OTHERS AND ANNOYING THEM INTO THE ARMS OF OUR LORD AND MASTER!?!?!?!"

LOL Oh, okay. I guess I should start being appreciative of the efforts which politicians and lobbyists make to treat me like a child and deny me the opportunity to play game which I, by virtue of my ADULT age, am entitled to purchase and play if I feel so inclined. God bless this great Land of The Free - This land of freedom and choice and options (as long as those freedoms have passed the scrutiny of fringe groups and politicians who have no knowledge about the things whose distribution they attempt to control)

Exactly my point: Rockstar is free to make games and retailers are free to sell or not sell them.

God Bless America.

This is a decision that the retailers made completely on their own. The governement never told Walmart or Gamestop that they had to remove all copies of the game from their shelves. If you have a problem with this decision then you should complain to your retailer's customer service dept.

I'm sick of the politicians trying to censor things. And I hope this guy doesn't get his way because I really want to play Getting Up.

Also, tonight the local news here is doing a story about the new game Bully and school violence.

Best quote I have read in awhile. "Data is not yet available on how many New York City plumbers have been seen bouncing across the city, stomping mushrooms, or jumping directly into drainage pipes. We'll keep you posted."

Now that is funny. LOL

I've always wondered...what if the politicians are not as dumb as they seem on the surface? Hear me out here.

Lets say, hypothetically, that a politician learns about Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas before it comes out (we're in the past here, childrens. Use your imagiNAAAtion). This politician says that he doesn't want the game to be released because it will teach children to shoot and hijack and be violent and be pedophiles, or whatever he 'thinks' the game will do. Now, of course, the game gets released anyway. A couple of kids shoot cop cars and then blame GTA: SA. Wouldn't the soccer moms and the general non-gaming-sub-intelligent public and this guys political buddies all say "See? This guy said the game would be bad, and look! It is! Lets all vote for him again!"

Now, I know this is a conspiracy here, but it could be possible that some politicans are making such a big stink about these games for their own personal gain. Just a thought.

Your argument is missing a very key component to make it work: children aren't supposed to be allowed to buy these games, and in most stores, they aren't. That pretty much sums up my swift, effective rebuttal.

The problem is that some parents just don't care.

Kids come in by themselves and ask for a M rated game - Don't get it

Kids with Parents - They get the game

Many a time I've gone through the routine explaining why a game is M and many a time I've been interuppted with "Yea I know just let me buy it."

Your point only proves that it's ultimately the parents responsibility. The ESRB has given the game a proper rating, most major retailers enforce the ratings, meaning it's up to the parents to buy these games and know what their kids are playing. Same as any parent can take their 3 year old to an R-rated movie if they so desire, but to have them complain about violence/nudity/language afterwards is simply absurd and shows a lack of common sense, among other things. It is not your televisions or your Playstation's duty to raise your children, it's yours. You fucked to get them here, you bear the responsibility for raising them not to be a mouth-breathing little cretin. Next.

The other day I saw a parent in a liquor store. With one teeny child and a grade schooler, even! Did the liquor agent warn the parent of the dangers Black Velvet Blended Canadian Whiskey poses to young children? Nope. He just sold it to the parent.

Who, I might add, obviously needed something to slip in the squalling brat's bottle. And the 12-year-old sure was looking covetously at the shiny plastic bottle.

We need prohibition back.

*sigh*

Why do politicians care so much about video games? We're in a war that we really need to get out of us as soon as possible and government spending is disgustingly high. They need to get their priorities straight.
