What do you think EA games quite frankly i think they are overrated as hell and it gets on my nerves when everyone talks about them,
reasons for this is
Sports games-it doesn't seem like they do much the same thing every year and whenever the new madden comes out everyone makes deal and goes out and spends $50 on it , i don't think we should pay that much.
lisences- they seem like they only want whats maybe big on tv, Lord of the Rings, 007, etc
Uniqueness-I really don't see anything really too unique from them(their developing that is), i know they'll get something like battlefield and black and white games they'll find and pay the developers a whole lot of money to put it out on the market.
oh yeah something else i saw on gamespot on best video game fueds of the selections were all companies vs. EA
My conclusions is they have more credit than what they're worth, so what do you think of EA.

I know many ppl say that EA sux because they rush games.
I dont play much of the new PC games. Only check out the big titles usualy. But I dont look on who publish the game. As long as the game is fun thats what matters to me :)

Electronic Arts started out as the best games publisher in the business. MULE, Seven Cities of Gold (ahem), Murder on the Zinderneuf, One on One, Pinball Construction Set, Racing Destruction Set. One classic after another.
The best and worst thing to happen to EA was Madden. It was so damned good on the Genesis that it pushed them into creating one great sports game after another. Today, that's about all they have.
EA's name still means a certain quality, but their games sell on the strength of the brand name, and the visionary games of the '80s are long gone. I miss that vision, but I don't know if such a thing is even possible when it costs ten or twenty million dollars to make a videogame. That's just rediculous.

Ea is doing more to hurt the industry than help it.
Just look at there releases they are so greedy for the dollar they barely give you enough time to savor a release before they are out putting out a sequel. They are so greedy they cut the instruction manuals to 12 to 13 pages max. That is like some cheap bastard splitting two ply toilet paper just to have 2 rolls. Between the credits and the advertising it is almost not worth including.
They think by buying up the rights to football secures the legacy. Wrong move Corperate titans come and go. they are saturating the market. I bet many people are sick to there stomach of hearing Ea games challange everything.
In 1995/1996 I gave Ea respect because they failed to release a football game because it just wasn't up to ea standards. Now I bet they would release a game buggy or no even if it stank. Now that it is under Corperate control innovation is out quick buck is in.

I think it sucks that Madden will be the only football game in town, but as a whole I don't have a problem with EA.
Yeah, basically they just crank out sports games and licensened stuff, but most of it is pretty solid (their James Bond games have been good except for Goldeneye).
They also tend to keep series going longer than they should because the name sells (Medal of Honor should have been stopped after Frontline).
But for every clunker they put out, they'll put out something like Burnout 3.
Most of the EA-haters seem to be sports-game haters in general. Even if you hate Madden, the cash it makes helps to fuel more orginal stuff like Oddworld Stranger and keeps the industry financially viable. Most gamers aren't like us; they'll just buy a few new games a year, and for a lot of them, one of them is Madden or another sports game.

i always get the madden games 1 1/2 years after it hits stores. i don't see myself spending 50 bucks on a game that i get for 15 or less a year later. i'm still playing tiger wood's pga tour 2003 and i'm in no hurry to try 2004 or 2005. i'm waiting for madden 05 to drop a bit more before i jump on it. i really ejoy playing sports games and they make fun games....but, i have no trouble for waiting for a better deal.

They're all a bunch of sinners and whores. Ok that's overly dramatic, but you get the point. EA buys shit, destories it, the whores it out to the gaming world.

Bunch of haters around here. You people are getting mad at EA for creating a powerhouse company, and frankly there is nothing wrong about what they are doing. They started small, made some solid games, and proceded to expand their company and its intellectual property by buying out smaller devolopers.
IMO they make better sports games than anyone else on the market, and besides I don't hear anyone ragging on 989 Sports or Visual Concepts for their sports games, which makes me wonder since they essentially "add-on" to their sports titles every year also.
I suppose when you are on top you are always going to have people disagreeing with your marketing/operating tactics, but I will promise that everyone who has something negative to say about owns at least one EA title that they thoroughly enjoy.
As far as exclusive rights to NFLPA, there are plently of great sports titles from the past that didn't need to use player names and likenesses to sell. Maybe this is encourage all sports game devolopers to creative some innovative changes in sports titles, instead of focusing upon photo-realistic images.

Personally, I don't really have anything against EA. I think of them as any other publisher really. The thing is though I have been burned by a bunch of games I've got with the EA name on it that weren't up to my expectations. Whether it was the Lord of the Rings series or 007, they took licenses that had tons of potential and made games I felt were barely playable.
If the game has the EA seal on it, I will usually not get it until I read some reviews and hear some stuff. Even then, I try to wait until I can find it really cheap. I really want to get Burnout 3, but I'm waiting for an under $15.00 price point. Even if I find EA stuff for $5.00, I'll tend to skip it -- which is usually my, "What the hell, why not?" point.
On the other hand, if the publisher is someone like Sega, I'm more likely to see a game at $19.99 and just pick it up. I have yet to feel totally burned on a game from them, and I've picked up quite a lot.
Again, it has little to do with EA as a publisher -- I'm just not that into sports games (although I do own all of the 2K5 games thanks to the price point), and their other stuff that I've picked up hasn't been entertaining.

The biggest problem I have with EA Games (gameplay-wise, not referring to their business practices) is the fact that everything they make has a faux "focus group" cool to it. Like pretty much all of their soundtracks, sorry, EA Trax. That and the emberassing stereotypes and terrible voicework in some of their games (SSX anyone?). They know how to make a decent game, as the James Bond series will demonstrate, but I just wish they didn't have that whole junior-exec "my kid told me this would be cool!" vibe to them.

I pretty much don't like any of there sports games. IMO, Sega sports is much better. Ea has made some good games like the LOTR games, and the 007 games and, nfsu, which the only reason I liked the game was that when it came out cause it was the only game like that. I thought nfsu:2 totally sucked really bad. Then I played the new Midnight club: Dub edition, and imo, that is the best game in that genre. I've never really liked the idea of Ea trying to devoure the whole Major league sports industry. It seems like people dont give any other sports games a try because of the Ea title( which seems to have alot of pull with sports fans).
They won't totally be the only football game you can buy. They got the major leagues, but the minor leagues are up for whoever want them, as long as you don't mind playing with minor league teams.
It sometimes seems that they just want to make a quick buck. Putting out a 2005 game that is almost the same as the 2004 and so on. I think they were good years ago, but now they have gone downhill.

EA is commerically seen on eof the best game companies, sadly a commercial good company don't release much special games. I think the current EA line-up is decent, no more no less. They offer fun for the normal owner of a console.
This is really different from the company I know from the Amiga and early Megadrive. It where those days Electronic Arts came with really revolutionairy games. I will never forget memories of Road Rash, Rolo To The Rescue, Desert Strike and Populous, oh and now I forget the first FIFA Soccer.
It was great but with the commercial success the inspiration drove away. The new franchises are not something I would like to buy, the only way the would get me buy an EA product is by releasing a classic Amiga/MD collection. I know it won't happen, so I think they won't make any money on me.

I love EA.. in fact, im kinda tired of people who hate on ea just from the fact that they release a game for very sport every year. Sports change and a lot of their sports games dont.. I dont blame them though, they have a great game. Updated features, rosters, tools, options, plays, graphics, playmodes etc are enough for me to invest in my favorite sports games every year (NCAA football XX). IMO, they make the best, most accurate sports sims out there.. if you dont like them, well.. thats your problem huh...

EA is no different than any other company in existence. Yes they try to make money. They will sign exclusives and buy rights to franchises. They make some excellent games and they have made some clunkers. I'd take EA over a great many companies. EA provides many games in varied genres. Many other companies are one dimensional in this aspect. To say EA offers nothing to the avid gamer is silly. As far as having the only Football game, we all know you mean NFL licensed game... but that was merely business. TV networks do it, big business does it. It's a reality. I give EA credit for bringing the gaming community varied titles for the different consoles. I don't feel EA drains video gaming as so many people like to try to point out. EA has provided me and many of my friends with some much needed and well deserved breaks from life.

i love EA, i dont know what everyones problem is...they are huge...so what? I am pissed about them buying out the rights to NFL, but thats business...they make lots of great games
look at Burnout 3 that game is awesome...
EA makes shit games, and EA makes great games...they fuck up some stuff, and they fix others...thats life...every company does that...Capcom fucks up big time, Nintendo, holy hell do they fuk up...Square and Sega do too...we love to hate them and we hate to love them, but no company is going to make ALL good games...\
I think a lot of people like to say they hate EA cuz thats just what is in right now...but i bet every single one of you haters has a few EA games they enjoy a lot...

Their slash screen is loud and annoying but they put out some good games that I highly enjoy. Namely the SimCity/Sims series. They also have the license for 007 games which I like somewhat.

Did you like the most recent Sim City (I can't remember its name now... 4, I think?) I bought it with high expectations, and found that I thought it was less impressive than Sim City 3000. (Another reason I'm more concerned about checking if it has the EA logo on it...) Should I try it again?
I do find the Sims to be quite fun :)

Yeah I do not understand why people get pissed that people they do not even know spend $50 on madden every year. What the hell do you care what I do with my money. (and by the way I do not buy Madden every year). It seems for some reason if you make a lot of money selling video game products people are going to hate you.
Now my beef with EA: EA Trax.
And its not because of the bands they use, or the type of music they push in thier games. Nonpoint has had two of their tracks used by EA, and I see them every time they play in atlanta. But the fact that I cannot use my own music really burns me up. This is another reason I play NCAA over madden, because with NCAA I can turn on the college fight songs and not have to listen to what EA thinks I want to hear.
