I didn't see a link to the news that the PSP has now sold in (not through--important difference) five million units. Snagged from PSPUpdates.com:
"Speaking at the PlayStation Summit 2005 in Japan yesterday, the manufacturing giant released sales figures of 2.74 million in North America, and 2.33 million in Japan/Asia. The console launched in those territories in March 2005 and December 2004, respectively.
"Games sales figures are also quite impressive. They currently stand at 7.3 million in North America, and 3.9 million in Japan/Asia, while UMD movies have shifted 4.3 million in North America and a meagre 400,000 in Asia. Spider-Man 2 was reportedly the stand-out seller of the bunch."

Holy crap! Who in the world bought 4.3 million UMD movies in the US?
I wonder, especially because of the last line, if they included the 1 million copies of Spider-Man 2 that they gave away with the console as some of the UMD movies that sold in the US. That would put them at 3.3 million sold, but that is still over one movie (not including SM2) per console.
Color me corrected.

Not too exciting to me because i refuse to kill my emulation with new firmware. I can wait to web browse until I get home thank you.

What about that "ceramic white" psp? I dont know if I would blow another $250 on it, but it looks great.

So who the heck is buying UMDs anyway? You can get a portable DVD player for less than a PSP and watch all of your movies without having to buy them twice. Plus, you can't watch a UMD movie on the big screen unless (I'm guessing here) you've got some high priced UMD player. Who in gods name buys a movie they can only watch on a tiny handheld!? For more than the DVD costs???

Man I saw this one coming. You want a web browser? You'll have to give up homebrew software.
If they crack 2.0 firmware, then I'll upgrade. But a eb browser in exchange for all that emulation goodness isn't a fair trade, so I'll be keeping my PSP the way it is.
