This is probably 50/50 percent classic gaming and ebay insanity, but here we go!
I kind of wondered if this would happen, and it did. With all these cheapo unliscenced NES clone deals going around, I've heard that quite a few games don't work on them... Well...
Had my first ebay auction where a guy bought a Maniac Mansion off of me, worked fine in my toaster and top loader, he says he can't get it to work, got it out of him that he has a Yobo.... Well, luckilly he is being decent, and I've even talked him into buying a real one!
anyways, my question is, does anyone know which games DO NOT work with these things? It would be great if we had a list so we know when we are selling games to the yobo noobs
I think I'm going to start putting up a disclaimer that I DO NOT guarantee my games will work with one of those stupid things, only REAL nes systems

Well, I guess I'll use my 1 free bump
I guess it was too broad a question for anyone to actually know which particular games dont work with these things, so I'll ask another question
What are your experiences with these things?
Did they actually work well? I've seen a few different models around, I have a friend who told me he bought one and took it back, it didn't work worth a crap
ehh, if nothing else, maybe a few more sellers will think about the problems these things are going to provide

I have one of those. Got it when my bro took the ol' "family" with him to another state. So far, not too many problems with it, but I'll still get a top-loader when I see one.
The other day I picked up, among over a dozen other NES games, Sky Shark and Chiller, neither of which worked on my Yobo. I took them back to the place and they worked just fine. But the thing is they cleaned them out again, so it could have also been that I just suck at cleaning NES carts. I have not had the chance to hook the system up again and try them out again, but probably will this week. I'll let you know then if you can add those two titles to your list for sure then. Sorry I can't be of more help right now.

Thanks for the reply. I'm actually considering buying one of these things, they are cheap as hell anyway.... and when I sell games, I'll test them in a toaster and one of these things, cover all the bases

I have one of those Yobo brand famiclones.
I know for certain that Game Genie does NOT work.
I've heard from the people at GameXchange that Gauntlet also doesn't work.
I've had to reclean my cartridges to get them to work.
Otherwise...as far as a wannabe-NES is concerned it's not bad...and it saves a lot of wear and tear on my toaster-NES (which I had to start using the Game Genie because the springs weren't locking the cartridge in place right most of the time.)

My friend has one. He's had his for a good 3 months, and the games work great. However, the controller ports are acting kinda weird. We can't get controllers to work on it unless someone is holding the end of the plug into the Nintendo. It wasn't the controller because we tested it on another Nintendo, an official one.
Your best bet is to try to get an official one.

i have two, both from when they used 60 pin connectors and a bundled adaptor, also they had the 9 pin D-sub connectors. one of them i did a bit of dremel work on and put the controller ports from a REAL nes in it, so i have 0 probs with controllers.
i have found that some games dont work because the contacts on one side of the cart dont go all the way to the edge of the board, the way the nes made contact, this design was fine.. but in the yobo's, it is possible for one side of the cart to not make propper contact. i have a bunch of games like this, but only a couple have the green coating painted high enough not to work.

You replaced the 9-pin connector on the Neo Fami with those from an NES?
Do tell me how you did this..those Neo Fami controllers are junk and have cords too short.

I bought the famicom version, and havnt had any problems, but I have to make sure the adaptor is firmly in place otherwise I get skippage.
It may sound silly, but Id reccomend pusing the carts in a bit "deeper", that used to solve a lot of problems on my friends top loader NES a few years back. Just give em an extra push once theyre in.
Of course I could be wrong, and the NES yobo clone could be crap.
