Today is the 20th birthday of the original Amiga. On this day back in 1985, the Amiga 1000 was introduced to the world changing the way we think of computers forever. Introduced was real preemptive multitasking in as little as 512K, presentation that would basically be the forerunners of the now popular phrase "multimedia", and of course, lots of arcade style gaming goodness.

Dust off your original Amiga (or if you're me, just fire the one on your desk up), load up WinUAE on your PC/Mac, or invest in a new AmigaOne motherboard today to celebrate the Miggy's birthday!

Wow! Twenty years! I was just a C64 user when the Amiga came out and I lusted after it for the better part of 10 years before I got one. Saved my pennies and bought myself a 500 from Sears!

Now, I've got 6 of them with 2 set up all the time. Gonna have to fire up Leander in celebration!

Now the theme song to Fiendish Freddy is going to be stuck in my head all day. Thanks a lot.

So what IS going on with Amiga these days, anyway?

I was always a C64/128 man myself from 1984 to 1994, but I had a friend with a Amiga and the graphics that thing could do was YEARS ahead of anything else out there. Some great games also.

Kinda hard to believe. I was using an Amiga with the mighty Video Toaster to do professional, on-air TV work - well, okay, I guess the word "professional" is optional since it was a lower-than-low-budget Fox station - as recently as 1997. Sure takes me back. I wouldn't mind getting an old Toaster setup just to play with one of these days.
