I mean some of the games they made recently are pretty bad i hear.I saw a review for sega classic collection on X-Play and it got a 1 out of 5

I don't really trust reviewers when it comes to reviewing games. lots of games I really like got bad or mediocre reviews. Some games that got great reviews really sucked (imo)

I don't have any examples off the top of my head, but its pretty much why i have canceled my subscriptions in the past couple of years.

I prefer reader reviews, gives you a much broader view on the game(s).

Sega thus far though has been pretty good. the PSO franchise is still going apparently. And Sonic Heroes was pretty damn good. There's another game called shadow of the hedgehog we're waiting to be released.

I'm pretty keen on the history, and modern developments at Sega, but I've never heard of this one. You may wanna check your sources.

Let's not start a trend where people bemoan the death of a company because of one bad review :)

They make excellent games. I don't know how much product they sell but I'm sure they're fine. If you were talking about their next big franchise getting 1/5 you could get concerned, but a retro collection getting 1/5 barely reven registers :)

Sega is probably not going to die anytime soon, IMHO. Not only are they still putting out some great games, but they also own, build, and operate millions of prize grabbers and pachinko machines in Japan... and people tend to waste away their lives (and their money) on these.

@Segarocks30: It's not because Sega became a third-party developer that does release some games for Nintendo that they were "bought out". Heck, their games also come out for the PS2 and the Xbox, so it's not like they're exclusives either.

Besides, based on that argument, you might as well say that Namco was also bought out by Nintendo, since they also worked on the Triforce arcade engine with Nintendo and Sega...

Anyway, wasn't Sega acquired by pachinko makers Sammy? That's definitely not Nintendo...

Sega won't and at least not any time soon "die" or go out of business. They're bringing in a ton of revenue now that they're a 3rd party publisher. They can market their games on every system, hitting every audience and gaming crowd rather then just a select few if they stayed in the hardware business.

With franchises like Sonic and Phantasy Star and the creative talent of Sonic Team, Sega won't be in trouble any time soon. If anything, I've heard rumors of a rebirth of Sega. A new console, attitude, etc. But those are RUMORS, and therefore shouldn't be considered anywhere near facts.

Sega is doing fine. Games like Sonic will keep them alive as a 3rd party developer. The Dreamcast was a kickass system, except they didn't really give it a chance to take off, since they stopped developing for it so soon after it's release. After 3 disappointing systems (disappointing to them anyway), I don't think we'll see them develop their own system anytime soon.

You know if Sega made one last console(relate this to wwe with hulk hogan saying one last match)they would probably kill microsoft sony and nintendo.By the way is it true that you will have to get a HDtv for the next gen systems?

Kill Microsoft and Nintendo? I seriously doubt that. :hmm:

There's no need for this thread. Sega has merged with Sammy. They are one of the largest Japanese 3rd parties and some of their games still sell well. Do your homework before you ask such questions.

My dream is for Sega and Nintendo to bring out a console together that will play all of their old carts and CD's plus GameGear and GB games. If they did this, and had anything remotely new about the console, it would seriously put heat on Sony.

Here is something you guys might want to look at.
http://www.mmcafe.com/cgi-bin/forums/bbs/messages/11239.shtml#16368

Looks like SegaSammy's AtomisWave machines are done being made. From what I read the AtomisWave is made from bits and peices of the Dreamcast. I'm sure everyone knows about this already.

I got the link from Insert-Credit.

No but it sucks that they can't make NFL 2k any more. I liked it more than Madden, and for half the price.

You need to find a new news source... now. Never believe friends who are friends of friends.

I haven't read anybody else's responses, so if this has been said already, sorry. I don't think that it will, because I believe they have 3rd party games that always seem to sell well, but not excellent. If they just keep pumping out games, I think they'll be fine. I do, though, believe that Nintendo is on the same path that Sega is. Just a thought.

No, Sega wil not die more. They don't make the anything near the volume of high quality stuff that they used to IMO, but they are one of the developers that can and does put out quality titles. They are still doing better than most other developers IMO.

They put out a lot more stuff that I like than Konami these days, and so on.

My tastes are no indication of market viability of course, but the changes that made me less interested in their games were largely the same sacrifices made to deal with financial viability issues.

They'll do fine, they're taking a more agressive strategy this next-gen of consoles. They're hitting hard and coming out early. They won't die for a while.

I think, while they're at it, they should include the experimental mind-ray attachment that makes wives horny. If that feature is included, along with the puffed cheese curl dispenser, there's no way they can lose!
