ADK's WORLD HEROES has always had a special place in my gaming heart. Me and my best friend grew up LOVING that shit.. I have awesome memories of playing 1, 2 and Jet in the arcades... from Chuck E. Cheese's to Golfland to mom n pop video rental stores to Safeway. I never played Perfect in the arcade but am a proud owner of the Saturn import.
I have longed hoped for a WH 3 but that's very unlikely these days. Oh well, I'll always have Perfect and the memories. Captain Kidd, Dragon, Fuuma and Hanzou ruled 8-)
I always thought Hanzou and Fuuma's Dragon Punch animations were the coolest ever. Still do. :D

The new Neo Geo Battle Colosseum features Hanzo & Mudman. Might be of interest to you.

Never hear of Battle Colosseum before... what exactly is that? A 2D fighter?

Why it's one of the nicest "Battle Royales" you've ever seen
Like Capcom Fighting Evolution almost...except....MARCO from Metal Slug and many more!

You know, I'm sure it says bad things about me, but I always played Janna. And Chun Li in Street Fighter. And the Vampire Girl in Darkstalkers. Or Felicia. The character, not the porno star...

I used to like World Heroes a lot too, but the series really didn't age all that well. I own an MVS copy of WH Perfect, but one of these days I'll have to pick up the original, if only for those deathmatch levels with the electric fences and fire and stuff. I never understood why they dropped those levels after the first game.

I played the everloving hell out of World Heroes 2 on SNES. The port itself was pretty well done, though it saddened me that Jet never made it to the ol' big N :(
Never really had a preference as far as characters go, I played just about everyone. My little brother and I used to play those deathmatch levels for hours. About the only other game where I had so much fun trading blows and stalemating for extended periods of time was Super Dodgeball on NES (ok, I admit.. Iceland is a cheap ass team to play :) )

Haha yeah... I too played the shit outta WH and WH2 on SNES man. The death matches were removed starting with Jet and then later Perfect, why they took it out baffles me as well. To me, Death Match was at least 50% WH. I played as most of the characters as well... I didn't like how they got rid of J. Max's fireballs though after part 2

What I posted a few days ago here and at Neo Geo.com..

I don't own a Neo CD system yet..but I do own some Neo CDs ..So I tried a Utopia disc in a Dreamcast and got World Heroes 2 Jet to work but the other CDs won't load..
Oh Well..
I wound up putting World Heroes 2 Jet in my Big Red and am playing that now..

I agree I remember playing the arcade version of World Heroes 2 and possibly world heroes 2 for the snes, I don't remember if it was released for the super nintendo.
I don't remember what I played but I remember the game
It's a great series
I wish we could get a rerelease of the game.
But I still enjoy the game it was so much fun, especially the levels with the fire and other traps
It's been a long time since i've played it but I still have fond memories of the game.

I played one of the games *a little* at Pizza Hut. I recall one time taking in my copy of GamePro that had all the moves for the characters.
My most memorable (and more recent) was thumbing through old EGM magazines and reading their review for "World Heroes 2" on SNES. Pretty much they trashed the game "because it wasnt SF2".
A couple of issues later and the lead programmer for the game writes them and calls them on thier bias.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! Ohhhhh... World Heroes... GYAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! Oh... man... *snicker*... HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! *pounds floor while laughing insanely* ROFL
... ahhhhhhhhhhhh... ah, the bad memories. World Heroes is what I consider to be within the "so much suck that it has some entertainment value" file. Not only is it one of the more blatant SF ripoffs I've seen on the Neo Geo, but those character designs are so bad... Brocken would be cool if he wasn't so damn much like M. Bison... and Inspector Gadget as well. Hmm... as a matter of fact, I could say that he plagarizes Heidern, but King of Fighters 94 came two years later after the original WH... interesting... well, SNK does it better. They kinda ripped off Janne's design to make Charlotte... hmm...
... anyway, this game just doesn't click with me, but I will give it credit for the innovation of the Death Matches. Fighting games + Traps = Heap Big Trouble! Fun for two-player fights, but the AI in this game is a pain... especially in WH2. I tell you, Dio is perhaps the WORST boss to have ever been spawned for this machine. I'd consider him even harder than my most hated of them all, KoF2001's Igniz, but the AI becomes extremely broken by the third match or so, maybe sooner.
So, I definitely don't like WH much, but... it's made an impact in my mind. I like to refer to that impact as "post traumatic stress disorder." Key-rhyste. x_x

I actually remember dismissing World Heroes in the past, thinking it was probably just trying to be like Street Fighter.
I picked up World Heroes Perfect for the Saturn a few months ago. It was cheap, and I had remembered that Steven mentioned it as being one of his sentimental favorites when he got his Saturn. I tend to go by his import recommendations quite a bit, so I gave it a shot.
Very cool game ... I'm actually ashamed that I dismissed it back in the day. I must admit though, I absolutely suck at it, and find myself routinely getting thrashed by the time I reach the fourth fighter or so. A nice "under the radar" fighting game, the kind that I tend to gravitate toward.

I loved the series, especially the Game Boy version. I was shocked to see the huge roster in that game since other fighters of that era struggled to fit the majority of their characters into GB ports.

Never played World Heroes. Didn't think much about it back in the day.
I may pick up the SNES versions after reading this. Are they any good?

I liked them. They were pretty damn faithful.
