Mod your SNES to play imports, and do the 50/60Hz mod while you're at it;)

I
OSG can do the SNES lockout chip disable.

I have one here for sale already modified. It is a switched lockout mod, so you can re-enable the lockout chip with the flick of the switch if needed. It's also had it's slot modified for Japanese imports as well.

I still have a spare PAL SNES console that I would like to trade for an US one.

I doubt a pal snes would work in the us, how much are you looking for the modded snes?

How do you make the SNES universal? Is it as easy as the NES?

Its fairly difficult..

Depends how good you are with a soldering iron..

Basically with the NES you just cut one chip leg, as you know, which disables the lockout chip and lets you play all the games.

The SNES however... say you disable it, then you can play foreign games, but some of your own countrys games, e.g. Super Mario RPG, will not run stable if you have the lockout chip disabled.

So the best way to do it, is fit a lockout chip enable / disable switch, and a 50/60hz switch, then you can enlarge your cart slot if you need to.. hence play all games...

I have PAL SNES if anyone is interested, and also modded PAL SNES...

Also some very nice converters, that ebay wont let me sell even though if you search on ebay im 100% sure there will be a lot on now. I have regular pass through converters (honey bee) boxed and brand new. I also have the harder to find PRO converters (the one with the toggle switch fitted)

A PAL snes should work in the USA..

You can use your regular USA SNES A/C adaptor - the voltage is taken into the adaptor and then stepped down to the low voltage used by the SNES.. as the UK and US SNES' use the same low voltage.. as long as you use your countrys PSU its fine!

About it being PAL.. most modern TV's will support PAL I believe.. so check your TV instruction manual!

Not easy as Mr James Chaoticjelboy says!

read this guide at mmmonkey:

http://www.mmmonkey.co.uk/console/nintendo/snes-switches-1.htm

(If it works on a USA SNES, that is to be found out!)

Yes it works on US SNES..

Pretty trivial as long as you have the right tools..

I have uber skillz now 8-)

As for chaoticjelboy.. ive never heard of him, sounds a right clown
