NCAA Football always has longer load/save times than Madden.

I havne't played too many cd based games, but so far the worst that stands out in my memory was Stuntman for ps2. At some points, the time I played was shorter than the load screens I waited through. It was hard to stay interested in a game like that.

You guys never played Mastertronic games on C64 did you?? I distinctly remember the title / load screen staying on for up to 5 minutes for those games. Those were bad, so was Dr. J vs. Larry Bird basketball, watching that stupid Electronic Arts logo color scroll for 3-4 minutes...

Hmmmm Die Hard Arcade for Saturn. Very long and very frequent. It takes away from the fun of the game big time.

Neo Geo CD... enough said.

During the loading you can make some coffee, run a mile, masturbate, create new language and write a dictionary/thesarus for it, restore arcade cab, reverse alphabetical order of game collection, masturbate again and it MIGHT be done loading.

Willy Beamish for SegaCD and all of the Namco Museum titles for PS1 both have horrible load times. Beamish I could understand because of all the FMV and audio used in the game, but what is Namco Museum's excuse???

If you hold down L1 + L2 + R1 + R2 on the Namco Museum PS1 load screens, you can make Pac-Man or Mappy or whoever run a lot faster. Doesn't speed up the load at all, but it sure does make for a good excuse to say "WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!", doesnt' it? LOL

Simpsons Road Rage on PS2 comes to mind, especially on the side missions, where the load times can be longer than the alloted time to complete them!

Jumpman Jr.

For some reason Sonic Adventures comes to mind. I don't know why though. Does that game have long loading times?

I never timed it out, but Darkstone on PSX has rediculously long load times.

Longest I've seen was Digimon World 3, both with saves and loads.

But from literature, I think it might be Hexen for the PS. That thing takes up a wopping 15 blocks, as in the whole card. Crazy.

Holy crap, I thought the same exact thing when I saw the title of this topic. I remember going upstairs and putting a full meal of food on my plate, and coming down to find that the game is still loading! I was like...boooo....

I'm put off playing some games due to their infinite load times... Everyone automatically thinks of Resident Evil in this instance, but I can tell you there are some worse loading times out there for current gen consoles...

Hehe, and don't forget the old Speccy / C64 / Amstrad loading times! They were epic!!! ;)

Floppy games for the atari 800xl. I hadn't played it for YEARS until recently, and my good god are the load times long! Some games like Karateka and Ultima on diskette can take a good 2 to 3 minutes of that beeping before they finally load.

blood omen: legacy of kain for ps1 has horrible load times. moving from screen to screen is something like 27 seconds. bringing up your inventroy is 10 seconds, crazy crap.

Floating Runner (PS1): That initial loading screen is killer, its almost a full minute. The PS doesn't even sound like its loading anything, but eventually the title screen does appear.

Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex on PS2. Those loading screens were so long, I could get up, go to the bathroom, come back, and it would still be loading!

Without a doubt, the Battlefield series on the PC has the longest, most mind-numbing load times currently available on the market. Whether you're operating a state-of-the-art rig or a bare-minimum setup, this game takes forever (and then some) to get you in the action. Gah.

Mortal Kombat Trilogy for Saturn comes to mind. The load times aren't THAT long, but there's just SO many of them...

And somehow, it's still well worth it. :)

Broken Sword III on PS2 takes about 20-40 seconds to load inbetween locations/levels.... for a current generation game I think that's pretty bad.

The Dreamcast port of Soldier of Fortune (1). I literally waited over 15 minutes for the game to load from the title screen to the first level.

Quake III Revolution (P$2) has hella long loading times considering how relatively simple the levels are (they're deathmatch-oriented maps, as opposed to huge, complex single-player levels). Fortunately, the game rewards your patience with top notch graphics which do NOT slow down the solid framerate.

For me, it depends what I'm doing. If I'm playing on the PC, I would have to say Half Life 2 has the longest load times. That does take into effect that my PC doesnt' play the game at full, so it takes about 3 minutes for some of the loads.

On the consoles, I think that Gran Turismo 4 had the longest. It sucked picking your area, selecting a closer area from there, from there choosing my race, and from there choosing start. Too much loading for just one single race. Really ticked me off. So i traded it in for Forza.

Wipeout for PSX had some serious load times. It is much better on the PS2 and even on the PSOne, but try it on an original PSX for some torture. Worth the waiting though.

Any of the Sherlock Holmes games from back in the 16-Bit CD era will drive you crazy.

Of the current Gen, PS2 games take the cake. The inital load in any of the 3D GTA games is tough, especially in GTA 3. The worst though, would have to be the crappy budget title Corvette. The initial load is so long and seems so random that you think the game is not going to boot on your machine.

The load times in MOH Rising Sun are pretty bad. It takes something like 30 seconds on one load screen then another load screen comes up and takes another 20 seconds.

Some load screens just seem really long because we've gotten used to things being instant. Recently my internet connection was being slow. Pages were taking a whole 10 seconds to load! @_@

I remember HELL a Cuberpunk Thriller on the 3DO to have a long load time

Populous: The Begining on the PSOne had the same deal as Hexen in that it used the entire memory card. Saving and loading that game took forever.

Pretty much anything on the TRS-80 coco via the cassette tape loading.

Oh heck, I used to play most of my games on my Amiga 500. So long load times were common. Especially the games that had 4-8 disks. You would load disk 1, then it would ask for disk 2, that would load, then it would ask for disk 3, that would load, then it would ask for disk 1 again, and that was just for the title screen. LOL

I've heard some bad things about the neo geo cd and c64 but I don't have either of those. Of the stuff I have it goes to untold legends on psp. They're usually 30 seconds or more which is a lot for a new system.
