Is it just me or is the PC Engine software market in a depression? Some of the games can be picked up for dirt cheap but my question is....does anyone think it will pick up again?
There was an interesting program on the other day in the UK talking about "retro" gaming and said that old stuff will just become more and more collectible but that next gen consoles of today such as PS2 will never be collectable (well at least the hardware) due to the mass production numbers involved.
Will the PC Engine market bounce back?

If you're "speculating", I couldn't tell you. From what I've seen, the PC Engine stuff has gone down and down and down over the years.
But from a "players' perspective? Wow. I've got over 400 PC Engine titles now, and I just love the system. Of course it's probably no surprise since most people know about my TG-16 fascination, but as is often the case, Japan got the best stuff.
Go for it.

lol I for one hope that it doesn't bounce back anytime soon. I was discussing this exact topic with Maxlords the other day...now is a GREAT time to get into PCE collecting. I've been buying for the system for almost 2 yrs now and I've never seen prices this good. I wonder what has replaced it has the hot system of the moment....?

As jaydub said, we were talking about this the other day. PCE has been in a slump for almost a year and a half now. It was at it's peak about 3 years ago, then it went down and Saturn went WAY up, and now Saturn is going down and PCE is staying low. There are a few PCE titles that have totally held their value, but not many.
As for what's replacing it now....hell if I know. The Saturn (except for a few RPGs and shooters) is also in a slump for value. The only things I see staying high lately are FM Towns Marty and Neo Geo home cart games. Everything else is a LOT lower than it was a couple years ago. I think this is just an ebb in the gaming market in general though. I'd expect that the PCE market won't stay THIS low forever, but it won't be coming back quickly either. If you're into TG16/PCE (and I'm a HUGE fan) NOW is the time to start snapping up stuff while it's UBER-cheap. I'v egot a lot of stuff I'd let go for cheap or trade off myself. Bout 200+ PCE CDRom games sitting here to clear out.
