Picked up a QBert this week, but it's missing the sound board. Anybody got one?
In case you come across two of them, let me know :) . I've got one, but the SC-01 speech synthesizer chip is bad, and they don't seem to be available anywhere but these sound boards :( . Oh, and to broaden your search, this is the same sound board that is used in some Gottlieb pinballs... I know Black Hole uses it, and probably some of the other newer System 80's (you just need the Q*Bert sound ROMs). I know Timeline does NOT, possibly www.marvin3m.com will have that information.

It may not be the sound chip that is bad. Usually the amp is shot or one of the 2 '377s (I think that is the right chip number) You can check what I did to my Qbert on my webpage

I figured the board would be similar in the pins from that era, but does it have the provision for the speech chip? I guess it would be better to have the sound working while I look for a reasonably priced real one though. Thanks for the heads up!

That's cool... but I know the SC-01 chip is bad... I've got two Q*Berts and when I swapped the SC-01 chip on the speech board, the other worked 100%.
Oh, and I'm not sure that the pinballs had speech, although the board looked exactly the same... I didn't check if it had the speech chip in the socket though.
