Woah man, I totally didn't realize that the release date of Sonic Gems was so close. I don't know if I will be picking it up on Monday, but I definitely will pick it up sometime this week.

Hate to burst your bubble, but according to www.allgame.com, which is usually 90-95% accurate with their release date information, Sonic Gems Collection isn't being released until August 19th. Unless you're in Japan or Europe, where the game is probably either already out or coming out sooner. Oh well, gives you more time to save up and buy it. I am guessing it'll retail at $30. But that's just a guess.
But yeah, I am so buying it. Mainly for Sonic R, Sonic CD and Sonic the Fighters. I already have the Game Gear games on Mega Collection Plus for XB.

Vectorman and Vectorman 2 are also unlockable, which is weird because it has nothing to do with Sonic nor was developed by SonicTeam. The only thing it has in common with Sonic is that it too was a Genesis game *shrug*

Well unless this Monday is Aug 16th I don't think I'll be getting it. I doubt I'm gonna get it on realse anyway. I think this time I'm gonna wait for the PS2 version and see what kind of extras they stick on it.

I was really suprised to hear that it was coming out this monday... It just didn't seem right to me; I thought I was going crazy (well, more crazy, that is).

If you have a choice of soundtracks on Sonic CD i will pick the domestic version of Sonic Gems. If not i'm importing. I've never played the Japanese version of Sonic CD that is supposed to have a better soundtrack. I thought the domestic soundtrack was good, but what do I know?

THE ONE, THE ONLY- RCM

Considering I already have Sonic CD, Id say no. If there were any other interesting games, maybe I'd consider it. I think it would be cheaper for me to just buy sonic R, although I heard it sucked anyway.

And by the way, from what Ive heard, I think the US soundtrack of Sonic CD is better. I especially like the water zone theme (Tidal Tempest?).

Pretty much for the USA

Europe will have the PS2 verison

Japan will have both

Just doesn't make any sense to me =/

I'm hoping the price of Mega Collection will drop, I've been meaning to get that one for ages.

NO! Damn all you Sonic R haters!

I love Sonic R. Give the game a chance. Once you get used to the semi-akward controls, the game really shines. And It probably has some of the best 3D graphics on the Saturn...

I was so disapointed they took those out for the US, now I don't really have a reason to get it.

Sonic CD is still one of my favorite games(partially because of the soundtrack), and Sonic R is way underrated, as is Sonic the Fighters.

Maybe I should buy Sonic R, then. If I can find it for cheap. I can definitely recommend Sonic CD though. People claim it is the best Sonic game, and they just might be right. It takes a little while to get into the groove of it, though.

I am buying it just to play sonic the fighters mainly, and it will also be nice to play some of the game gear ports such as sonic drift 2 and tails adventure.

I might not buy it on the 16th, but I'll get it soon after, and I'll be getting it for Vectorman 2, Sonic R, Sonic the Fighters, and to be able to play Sonic CD on my good TV. For $30, it'll be worth it.

I'll probably buy this pretty much immediately... I'm desperate to play Sonic CD on a television!

But I'm very skeptical over this August release date... it just doesn't sound right to me (especially in Europe)...

Picking this up for sure, but I'm opting for the Japanese version just because it has all of the Bare Knuckle games. For a game as aptly named as Sonic Gems there are only three major classics in this: Sonic CD, Sonic R and Sonic the Fighters. Sonic CD is probably worth purchasing this alone, but including 6 game gear titles is pushing it. What ever happened to putting Knuckles Chaotix in the mix?

I buying for sure becuase,it seems its hard to find Sonic CD for sega cd on ebay for a good price.

Reserved and being bought.

Sonic CD, Sonic R, and Sonic the Fighters on one disc? How the hell can you complain?

Cryomancer
08-01-2005, 08:28 AM
You can complain for them leaving off Chaotix and giving us gamegear games that are already on adventure DX...heh.

But No, I'll get it eventually, just so I can play fighters with full framerate.

alec006
08-01-2005, 11:17 AM
Well yea I can really complain, I got Sonic CD and Sonic Jam for $11.51, and yes I really think they need to put Knuckles Chaotix in a Companion.

Well isn't it true that there are some hidden games in this? None haven't been revealed, so we can keep our fingers crossed.

Vectorman 1 and 2 is what I heard. Japan gets beatmeups but that would change the rating over here.

And what about Segasonic the Hedgehog? If there is a game that deserves to be on it, this rarity should be considered a "gem" to have playable on the 'Cube.

IGN posted a little preview this week, and this stood out:

"Interestingly, Sega recently revealed that the PS2 version of Sonic Gems Collection, which will only be released overseas, would feature all three iterations of the classic Streets of Rage series. The decision to replace Streets of Rage with Vectorman on GameCube was made in order to maintain the version's E for Everyone rating."

Fingers crossed the GameCube version (released in October in Europe! Boo!) has the SoR series, and not Vectorman.

Just as a heads up, if anyone's looking for this, Target has it for $17.88 this week (9/4 to 9/10).

As much as I complained about this compilation, this was cheap enough, so I bought it yesterday!

STUPID OCTOBER! I want this now! Like Foxy, I've preordered it and can't freakin' wait for it!

However, I did hear a rumour (this may be stupid, but it's got me a little worried) that the Japanese versions of the game can detect the region of your Gamecube/PS2 and will change the music to Sonic CD accordingly? WTF? How the hell can they even do that? I highly highly doubt it's true, but it is a little worrying. I'm buying both the Jap and PAL Gamecube versions and don't want to be screwed out of the much much better Japanese music.

Oh, and Sonic R music is the greatest!

I also agree with the Sonic The Fighters comment. Damn them for not putting it in! Maybe Chaotix and Fighters have been left out for another compilation, but what else would they fill the disc with? Sonic Shuffle? :P They could always put the Pico games on it, or maybe finish Sonic Xtreme, but I can't see either of those happening.

Sonic The Fighters IS in this compilation. It includes Sonic CD, Sonic The Fighters, Sonic R, 6 Game Gear Games and Vectorman 1 & 2.

Well, I bought it. So far, Sonic CD is the only one worth playing, as I find Sonic the Fighters incredibly boring and Sonic R incredibly frustrating to control...

But I was reading through some online FAQs about the unlockable museum stuff, and it said there are five minute demos of all the Sonic Genesis and GameGear games that aren't featured on the main menu (the ones featured in Sonic DX and Mega Collection) hidden in the Museum... even more strange is that it mentions that the full code for those games exist on the disc...

Anybody else hear bout this?

Yes, I also found that out and I'm really pissed about the Sonic CD soundtrack as it sucks. Also I hate the back of the insert as Sega was too lazy too replace the USA-boxes for European ones. Luckly I only paid 20 euros for the game, but it still sucks and I'm really pissed as Sonic the Fighters for 20 euro is too much. Skrew You Sega, you really messed this release up.
