Hey,

About a mounth ago my parents house burnt down :( but I had move out about 6 months before, (keep in mind I'm 18) so most of my stuff was out. BUT I had left my extra NES/Genesis for my little brother. Well when I went in to help look for things that could be saved, lo and behold there was the two systems UNDER! a pile of junk badly damaged (smoke damaged cords melted ect.).

I thought that they were trashed, no hope, garabge was the only choice. BUT I talked to silver_surfer and gave him the systems and in 1 WEEK the systems were working and played fine, they were there proper color and were beatuifal!

I wanted to place this so that you could all know the magic that he does and to thank him.

Thats awesome! (not the fact that your house burnt down.. but the fact that he was able to fix your stuff.)
I've always known that silver_surfer and a great sense of fixing dead consoles, espessially NES'. Though I've never had one of my consoles cleaned by him, I have seen him work on a few, and they were done really well.
I tip my hat to you :-D

How much did it cost to get them reconditioned compared to replacing them?

I'd imagine it's only feasable if you live close to him. Then again, I don't know what he charges.

I'm gonna tell you his secret, he uses the Power Cosmic.

he lives close to me so I charged $15 to clean both.
The cost of shipping would make it much more expencive, but if you had the system since you were a kid its worth the price.

Any pics? I want to see these mutants. I'm assuming the plastic shells were warped and/or melted to an extent. Probably gives them character now. Their badass consoles.

The shells were intact there was lots of smoke damage but other then tat they were ok on the outside. I dont have a digital camera but if you look at a sega and nintendo take away any writing and there you go.

You know, I thought you meant the actual NES Game "Silver Surfer" somehow had like, a debug, rom repairing, all-knowing repair diagnostic built into it or something....when I read the topic...

Awesome to see you got the decks back :)
