If there's any piece of weaponry that no FPS (first person shooters) is complete without, it'd have to be a sniper rifle. Sure, there are faster firing weapons out there like AK47's, M16's, and MP5's... but there's nothing like glaring through the optical scope of a sniper rifle at a target that has no idea a bullet will be piercing his skull. I love sniper rifles in FPS games. They may not take out as many people as a discharge from an RPG-7V rocket launcher, but the element of surprise a sniper rifle gives the gamer is priceless.
One of my favorite hobbies takes place in Grand Theft Auto III, where I stand on rooftops with a sniper rifle, and pick off vagrants that are all the way down the street. >) Hey, it's a guilty pleasure.
