Well, most Simpson's games are pure crap, but once in a while some good ones come out of the woodwork. These Nintendo games pretty much suck, except for one. Krusty's Fun House is a pretty good game. I never really conquered it, but it's a great puzzle game. I never really understood the Bart vs The Space Aliens. What was the point of the game?

Arcade:

This is a machine that would make me very happy. I don't know anyone that wouldn't like to have this one.

Never played it has anyone played it? If so is it any good?

8 bit systems ( Nintendo, Sega, Amiga, etc...)

I never understood the game nor could I pass the first stage. Did this game come with 3D glasses.

Of course, the Arcade game is the best of the bunch.

I never really understood Bart Vs. the Space Mutants either, but i at least found it fun to play. Really there is only one good simpsons game and that's Hit and Run.

Krusty's Fun House was the bomb

Bart Vs. the Space Mutants (Genesis or NES) is always awesome

Yet, everyone agrees KONAMI's Simpsons Arcade is flawless

I liked Vs. The Space Mutants. I also liked Barts nightmare, but I know that I'm on of the few on that one. The absolute hands down best simpsons game was Simpsons Arcade. And njiska, because its very obvious that you have never played the arcade game, I highly suggest you do so. A halfway decent GTA knockoff is not even CLOSE to the pure awesome that is the arcade game.

Well, I used to love Bart Vs. The Space Mutants when I was young (e.g. 12 years old).. I would play it for hours and could actually get to level 2 (rolls eyes).. I decided a few months ago to pop it in the NES and try it out with a friend.. after all, we used to love the game. It was so hard for us to play, we had to cheat with Game Genie. And here is the pathetic part.. we still could not defeat level 1 even while cheating. So, yes, in my opinion the game really does suck, since you have limited time and limited lives. The Bart Vs. The World game was fun when I was young, as it had mini-games in it which I used to enjoy, but once again, that was when I was young. I am less patient today!!

The arcade game is the greatest! It's my favorite arcade game and one of my favorite video games ever. Unfortunately, there are no other similar Simpsons games, as this was one of those early 90's 4-player era games (e.g. X-Men, TMNT, Dinosaur Hunter).

I thoroughly enjoy Bart vs the Space Mutants.

If you watch the cinematic to each level, you'll understand the goals. First level, you must get rid of purple things, second is hats, third is balloons, fourth is exit signs...

You get rid of the objects by any means necessary, spraypaint, slingshot, rockets, etc etc. You cannot fight the boss until these goals are met.

the simpsons arcade is the best one by far, i keep waiting for it to be on some kind of bonus on a current simpsons game. the simpsons bowling is pretty funny to play, i remember our arcade had it for a short time.

Nobody watches cinematics anyway.

That's the only possible way so many people can think Final Fantasy has a good, original story.

Blah blah Simpsons blah blah

Simpsons games for consoles were universally difficult. Bart vs. the World is more like Super Mario Brothers than "Bart vs. the Space Mutants" - ie, longer levels and less originality. Combined with the sloppy-assed play mechanics, it makes for one long, boring game. I haven't played Bart vs. Radioactive Man, but from all I can gather it's basically Bart vs. the World II.

On the SNES there was Bart's Nightmare - more fun than the NES Simpsons games, though with difficulty that will tear your cornhole a new one. There was also Virtual Bart, though by then I had taken a break from consoles and was more into PC gaming, so I can't really say what this is like. I have a strong feeling it sucks.

Then there's Krusty's Fun House - sorta Lemmings meets the Krion Conquest.

All told - up until the PSX came out and Acclaim gifted us with 1,000 spinoffs of every license:

Arcade:
Simpsons (2P and 4P versions)

NES:
The Simpsons: Bart vs. the Space Mutants
The Simpsons: Bart vs. the World
The Simpsons: Bart vs. Radioactive Man
Krusty's Fun House

SNES:
The Simpsons: Bart's Nightmare
Krusty's Super Fun House
The Simpsons: Virtua Bart

What no love for Bart's Nightmare?

I never really enjoyed any of the NES Simpsons titles but I liked a few of the SNES games.

Yes, the arcade version of Simpsons is an undisputed classic and will allways be my favorite of the series.

Iwon't knock "Kusrty's Funhouse" (it was kinda fun) but any other Simpsons unleashed upon the NES was utter junk.

"Space Mutants" was all around bad. Terrible control and its implementation is pretty crappy as well.

Simpsons Aracde was all around arcade awesomeness.

I remember always picking Marge in one of the games because she was holding a vaccum cleaner as a weapon. That would allow for great reach.
I still can't remember the name of that game though... maybe these pics will help.

Yep, Marge had her vacuum in the arcade game. (In the PC port of the arcade game, she used a purse, but the PC port is somewhat lacking: no combo moves.)

KONAMI's Simpsons Arcade is flawless

Sums up the game perfectly! I <3 Simpsons Arcade!

Krustys Funhouse is great too...

Bart Vs The Space Mutants is good too but incredibly hard!

Very good recap!!!, i remember playing Bart Vs. the world and Bart Vs. the space mutants for NES. Very difficult games imo. Also i remember that i had finished The Simpsons arcade in a very obscure arcade with only...¡2 coins!!! (yes, the trick was that every coin put 20 credits hehe)...
Krusty´s super funhouse was a hit too, i spent a lot of hours playing with that strange puzzles...

Cheers,

Matías

I have played through the arcade version on MAME. Decent game, worth checking out.
I also always liked Bart VS The Space Mutants. Never beaten it, but it brings back memories :)

Same with Bart VS The World, brings back memories. I have beaten this game when it was new. Also got the secret ending ;)
Played this game not long ago and the controllers are damn hard. I wonder how I manage to beat it pretty easy when I was a kid, considering the controllers.

I never really cared for the NES simpsons games, But I think might have to give Krusty's Fun House a try.

Krusty's Fun House (not unlike Space Mutants) was released on a great many other platforms aside from the NES.

The only classic Simpsons game I've played is 'Bart vs. The Space Mutants', it was enjoyable (for the age i was at), but quite tough, but the Simpsons newer games 'Road Rage', 'Hit and Run' ect. are not ... lets say ... "masterpieces"

Yeah the Arcade game is fantatsic. I agree with Muze-Boy that the recent Simpsons releases werent too good. I suppose Road Rage was a fun Crazy-Taxi clone and Hit & Run was fun for a while but, Simpsons Skateboarding has to be quite possibly one of the worst games of all time.

I enjoyed Bart VS The Space Mutants too. The Mega Drive version was pretty tough. I was never a fan of Krustys Fun House though.

Anyway, thats my two cents..

Joe. :)

Bart vs. the Space Mutants was probably the only game I ever actaully purchased for the NES that I was massively disappointed in. It was just an excercise in frustration. I think I made it to level 3 once in all these years, and died very shortly thereafter.

I remember renting Bart vs. the World when I was a kid and somehow beating it in one sitting. Tried it again more recently and had not nearly as much success LOL

Even though they get trashed a bit, I do like Road Rage and Hit and Run. Not great games, but I have fun with them

And the Simpsons Arcade game was awesome, I usually played with Homer. Many many quarters were sucked up by that thing.

ETA: I forgot I also owned Escape from Camp Deadly. That game was the pits.

Isn't there a non-Simpsons version of Krusty's Fun House as well? I can't remember what it was called though.

Found it, it was called Rat Trap.

I remember seeing this first and then thinking "hey, did they just take this game and changed a few sprites" when I saw Krusty's Super Fun House. That was of course exactly what happened:

From Hall of Light (http://hol.abime.net/1200): "Rat Trap was going to be a full commercial release by Audiogenic, then Acclaim got the licence for 'Krusty's Super Fun House', and basically "bought" Rat Trap from Audiogenic, changed the character, changed the name: new game."

Non-Simpsons version? Krusty is in "The Simpsons" :) But if you mean a version who doesnt starr Bart, Homer, Lisa, Marge (and maggie?) I dont know. Doubt it, havnt heard anything like that.

Bart vs the World was really fun, I always thought. The cream of the Simpsons console crop. Bart's Nightmare was good, too, and the Krusty Fun House games were decent enough puzzlers, but everything else was pretty weak.

Bart Vs. the Space Mutants was pretty fun to play as a kid, though since I was a huge Simpsons fan, I was probably pretty biased. I'll have to pop it in one of these days to play. The arcade version was fun and some wimsical elements to it (like the show) but was very similar to most of the 4-player coin ops that came out at the same time. I still haven't had a chance to play Hit and Run but that is a game that I do want to get for my Cube as soon as I can find a good price on it (I hate paying more than $20 for my games anymore).

It amazes me that Konami never ported the arcade game like they did for TMNT 2. Maybe it was because of licensing. I am not sure. Coulda made a lot of cash given the quality of the game, and the popularity of the Simpsons at the time.

Side note. Anyone ecer play Bart vs. the Space mutants for Sega Game Gear? I swear it's harder than the NES version IMHO....

I always used Bart, but Marge was funny wacking enemies with her vacuum cleaner!

I had the first 2 Simpsons games as a kid. They were fun but the challenege was a bit high with cheap deaths and trying to make certain jumps over gaps and all. I did like some the mini games to win more lives though.

The Simpsons arcade game is the first arcade game I ever beat. I beat it back at Chuck E. Cheese back when I was a youngin. That arcade game has become my personal holy grail.

For consoles, I have many fond memories of Virtual Bart. I was young too, but we used to play it at my cousin's camp for hours.

True. The arcade game did get a few conversions though, there is a C64 version (http://www.lemon64.com/games/details.php?ID=2314) and a PC version that I know of. They were only released in the US though.

I rather liked Bart vs the Space Mutants. I had it for my trusty Spectrum and later for the Mega Drive. There were lots of secret ways of getting extra lives etc but no actual cheats for the game if I remember rightly. After a few levels, the game becomes insanely difficult. Fun for a while though.

Hit and run is fun and all but the 8-bit NES ones are the ones that come to mind for me as soon as "Simpsons" is mentioned in relation to video games. Maybe cause thats what I had in my youth.

I do actually own Escape for Camp Deadly for Game Boy, and played the heck out of it when I was younger. Not a masterpiece, but it's competently done.

I've heard some people fondly reminiscing about Bart vs The Juggernauts before, though. (Another Game Boy Game, that one.)

the arcade game was the best until Hit & Run came out. That and X-Men used to just eat quarters. I think the problem with the NES games was lack of understanding about that new show "The Simpsons." It use to be all Bart but the real comedy was with Homer and later the entire town. The arcade game follows many characters of the town. Even though Bart was eating shorts at the time, for big laughs, the game is centered in the Simpsons universe making it a game that aged well.
