The Mega CD might be different, but the Sega CD 1 & 2 both use the same power supply, MK-1602. A Genesis 2 power supply will not fit a Sega CD.

It's not like Sega made things really easy to follow, releasing 3 different types of power supplies for all Genesis hardware. Plus, I have a box of the Gen2 10V supplies and there must be at least 5-6 different appearances & package types for that supply alone.
Luckily the connectors won't fit where they're not supposed to go, except the teensy Gen3 power supply will fit in the Gen2/Nomad/Game Gear, but it's woefully underpowered for any of them.

The power cord for the Sega Genesis model 1, and SMS for that matter, along with many non Sega systems, use the same power adaptor as the Sega CD did in both the modle 1 and 2 systems.
