I got this from Goodwill a couple of weeks ago and I don't know what the heck it is! It looks like a Gameshark for the PS1. I have pictures at this link: http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/cvanderhoef/album?.dir=/1871&urlhint=actn,ren%3as,1%3af,0. If someone could direct how to put the pictures in my post I would be more than happy to. Also, if anyone could tell me what the heck this thing is let me know. It has me stumped!! Thanks in advance.

First, for images - there's an easy way and a harder, more useful way.

The easy way - if you look above the text box where you type your messages, there's a row of buttons. One of them is labelled "img". Click it, type in the link to the image you have, then click the button again.

The better way is LINK TO IMAGE - it pays to get in the habit of typing it out. Changing the square brackets to pointy-brackets makes it valid HTML, and you'll be well on your way to mastering the interweb.

As for the accessory - it's hard to tell (Yahoo Images sucks) but it may be one of these (http://www.firstsing.com/products/GS/GS028.htm) (a Goldfinger for the GBA) or one of these (http://www.kickassgear.com/Reviews/Tweek2.htm) (some sort of "Tweek" (kill whoever came up with that idiotic spelling) for an AMD Athlon).

Looks like a little device you can hook up to the back of the playstation (once you take the little door off). It can be used for cheats or to do the old swap disk play copied games deal. JMO

That is a cheat device for PS1 models with the port on the back...

It also allows you to play imports and/or backup too.. To do so, youll need something to hold down the disc open button near the back inside of the PS1

Once you have that held down, boot up the Playstation with an Original game in (With the Cart in the back and the Disc Open button held down) and wait for the Disc to stop spinning...
Once the game has stopped spinning, but in your import/backup and select start game...

Very handy cheat carts if you ask me...

I think there is a model which allows you to play GB games, however this isnt it IIAC, ive never seen one TBH

Looks like "the remote control Siegfried (or was it Roy?) had in his hands before that mechanical tiger nearly bit his head off" to me.

It looks like a bargain to me.

Well, I saw this in Goodwill and it was only $.49 so I figured I'd get it so on that account I would call it a bargain!! Also, I tried Googling it and I couldn't find any inofrmation on it:( Like I said it looks like the Gameshark I have for the PS1 but I never heard of Golden Finger. If this is the GB adaptor for the PS1 (which I never had heard of) how does it work? Thanks for all the input I've gotten already. Also, does anyone have a definite answer as to what this really is?? 8-)

I tried your first way of posting a pic by clicking the IMG button than copying and pasting the link and than clicking the IMG button again but to no avail. All it did was treat it like regular text and printed that out. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Try saving the pictures then upload them to www.imageshack.us and use the "direct link" between the IMG tags.
Should look like http://www.234imageshack.us/1234/picture22.jpg

but with a picture. Make sure the url you put in ends with .jpg

I have one that allows me to play imports, and like others have said you need a setup that has the disc tray open and some other stuff to hold something down something. Its been awhile since I did it, but I played DBGT Final bout, what a horrible...horrible game...

That is a cheat device that uses the Parallel I/O port on the back of the earlier PlayStations. GameShark had one, many other companies (like the aformentioned Goldfinger) either allowed cheats to be activated in game (like the Game Genie) or to let the system get tricked into playing all region games or burns.

The only cheat device I know about (and own) is the Gameshark. Was this readily available in the US? What company made it? Does anyone know of a website that has background information on this device? Thanks!

Well, PapaStu mentioned the Goldfinger above. Thing is, there are a whole LOT of these made by various fly-by-night companies. I've got one that plays MP3's and another that plays Game Boy and Genesis ROMs. I can check the company names out if I can find where I put 'em.
