So, I browse over to Benjamin J Heckendorn's site (www.benheck.com), and notice he's created yet another amazing portable version of a classic system. In this case, the Neo-Geo MVS. Ben's craftsmanship always amazes me. The systems he creates really do look professional. But ... I do have to wonder a little at the practicality of building a portable Neo-Geo unit.
The unit itself:

The unit with a cartridge:

You gotta laugh a little at how klunky that giant cart looks sticking out the back!

Well, it's really not that much clunkier than the original machine looked with a cartridge in it. The carts were twice as thick as the console!
That's pretty impressive looking, though!

LOL
That cart looks so funny in there. Just as I was reading the topic, I was thinking "how the hell did Ben Heck (I knew it would be him you were talking about) make a portable that would be capable of holding MVS carts in them.
Nonetheless, he found a way I guess.
That guy never ceases to amaze me. His portable NES and SNES' blow me away... this is just insane @_@

call me when he makes a 2 slot or a 4 slot...
now that I've gotten the elitist stuff out of the way.
it is pretty sweet, although the pink-ish color of the main console is a bit of a turn off, still very classy!

still pretty cool. it would be cooler if he made like a 1 foot mini cabinet.

Should have 4 slots on the back and a select button.

While we are on the topic, he should have extended the cart pin connector so the carts would be parallel with the "handheld."

I like the cart slot where it is. If you were playing the thing by a table you could sit it down and have it lean against the cart and keep the screen at a decent angle towards your face. The Cart becomes a an extra feature as a stand. I don't know if that was intended, but thats how i looks to me and its not a bad idea. I agree the color scheme is not great but that's easy to change. Good work on that.

Damn...there is nothing beyond Ben Heck's hardware mod skills :hail:!
I was wondering if he'd ever be able to top that portable PS2 and this looks like a front-runner.
Love the big-ass cart sticking out of the back. I wonder why he didn't come up with some groovy recessed cart slot like he did with his 2600's (/goes to rtfa).
Still waiting on the handheld Intellivision and Jaguar.

Ah yes, the build was a nice read. I agree with you guys though, the color scheme is questionable. And I can't fathom why the guy he was building it for wanted to use a SNES D-pad and face buttons... it makes no sense. A Neo Geo CD controller's buttons would be so much better.

Cool, but it isnt very "portable". I mean, you must have a bag or simular to carry this thing + game(s) around.

1) Get the Neo Geo PS2 pad.
2) Go to www.tototek.com. They have adapters to connect PS2 controllers to almost every system.
