Oh good. Another Atari compilation. Though I'm pleased to see Red Baron and Lunar Lander, and granted that it's for the N-Gage, does the world really need yet another comp of games that have been released over and over and over again?

Yeah, I am completely and utterly SICK of this. It sucks as a collector of "system x" when your library is adding yet another compilation that I've already got on "system y" and "system z".
Please make it stop.

Namco is even worse than Atari in that field -- how many more iterations of the Namco Museum will we yet see?

I don't know, but I can practically guarantee you won't see Splatterhouse on any of them.

Maybe, but how many more releases of Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man and Galaga do we need? I love these games like crazy, but still...

Meh, I don't think its the end of the world. I do agree that there are allready enough "Atari Greatest Hits" etc... out there but all they're doing is realizing that people are still into the classics.
Isn't that why we're all here?

Into the classics, yes.
Having the classics expressed as an endless regurgitation of the same titles year after year after year we are not. In my opinion they're turning people OFF of the stuff at this point. Something "new" from the classic era is definitely in order.

I agree. They need to come up with something like they did for Midway, separate volumes, or the original 5 Namco Museum releases for PSOne. That was creative. Or do some Namco Arrangements, kinda like they did for Pac-Man collection, they added that whole new "Pac-man Arrangement" game! If they did "arrangements" but kept the classic formula that would be awesome!
I'd like to see:
New tracks for Pole Position
New Pac-Mania / Ms. Pac-man levels
A twist on Galaga / Galaxian (New enemies? Bosses?)
New Dig Dug Levels
etc. etc. etc.
And dig up some of those uncommon long lost Namco / Atari titles while you are at it!! Come on developers get an imagination!

They're going the way of the sports titles except with longer shelf life: companies will release them every generation for every console, and they'll only be worth buying every 3-4 gens (i.e. once a significant number of games/extras has been added).
I'm personally skipping them for at least the next couple.

Reissuing classics is good long as you mix in other titles not seen in collections yet with familiar titles.

Not again.
I didn't mind em during the PS1 era and up to the PS1 era. But it's getting overkilled, seriously, I can buy a compilation for any system I have...and they all have the same game and only take up a super tiny portion of the media it's on.
Seriously, tell me that can't fit more than 50 games on Activision Anthology (or any other game collection) for PS2. And the GBA ones that get 5-6 games on them, >_>

I think an Atari comp for a system that doesn't already have one is always a good thing. What I don't like is when we get multiple comps for the same system that have the same games +/- a title or two. Kind of like when a band issues multiple "greatest hits" discs with slightly different playlists or a new song or two (I'm looking at you, KISS).

Good news for those living in the US. Chances of you finding this game in a store are about 0%. Gamestop has limited the N-Gage games it will carry and EBgames has stopped and will order no more N-Gage games. The only chance you have to get this game (that nobody seems to want) is to order from the UK or straight from Nokia. You can't even pre order this game from Gamestop since its not in their computer.

I agree, if companies are going to insist on re-releasing classic titles, they should incorporate some newer titles. I wouldn't mind seeing a "Best Of" of the NES (not the ones they've already done, but like Kickle Cubicle, or Bubble Bobble even), or the SNES, or the Master System, or SOMEthing...

On the plus side I'm guessing this is the first time such a compilation has been released on a verticle screen (since they are arcade versions) the way they were intended to be played. Oh yes finally something that actually makes sence on the N-Gage verticle screen.
I for one will be making the extra effort to order one of these to the US. I know DP will too since he's collecting for it as much as it seems to pain him to do.

While I think the atari classics are great games, DOES EVERY FRIGGIN SYSTEM NEED TO HAVE IT? O_O I agree with many of the above posts. I think that comp games are great, if they are done right. When I think of done right, I think of Activision Anthology. When I think of not done right, I think of Sega Classics Collection. I almost buy every version of a comp, but as of lately they are really trying to milk something that can be downloaded for free. If I was a game company doing a comp, I would really think twice before releasing a cheap ass port with hardly any incentive to people who have it for another system. FUTURE COMP GAMES NEED TO INCLUDE EXTRAS, VIDEO, UNRELEASED INFO, AND ONE HELL OF A LIBRARY FOR ME TO GIVE A CRAP.

Anybody else annoyed by the decision to make some of the games "unlockable?" I don't see why they couldn't have just made them all available from the start. When it comes to comps, I don't want to have to play some game I don't care about to unlock one I do. Lame.

Yeah, dumb move! If they were like the ones in Sonic Mega Collection (Blue Sphere, Ristar etc) I wouldn't care, those were kinda special. But there's no reason Adventure and Yar's Revenge should be locked on a classic compilation.

I really did love these compilations the first time around for the PS1, circa 1995-1997 (even though I got them in 1999-2000). The six Namco Museums were (and still are) wonderful, with a cool virtual museum, lots of extra info, as well as the games themselves. The "Arcade's Greatest Hits" series was cool too, with the hidden clips of video embedded within. But for the last few years, they've been callously milking it for all it's worth, and it has turned me off considerably. Same stuff, rehashed, over and over and over and over. The backlash is in full swing.
What I've been wanting to see all along is a compilation of new and original games but done in the early 1980s arcade style (and not just a hack of an existing game). Wouldn't it be neat to see a fresh new game that looks like it was released in 1982? Think how fun that would be--it could be marketed as a compilation of "lost" games that has never been seen until today--all done tongue-in-cheek, of course.

Tron and Discs of Tron are on the Tron 2.0 GBA game. Rolling Thunder is on Namco Museum Encore (JP) in case you were interested.

Umm, they've already done this on a few titles. There's alreasy a Galaga arrangement and Dig Dug arrangment out there. I know they're on the re-hash for the PSP and I can't remember where else I've seen them.

With it being for the n-gage I don't view it as badly as all the other repeat comps that keep being released. The Namco 50th anniversary edition is the one that really has me pissed off.

True enough, but the video on the two games is as compressed as all hell and nigh unplayable.

At least Namco 50th is going to have some of the rares not seen since the museum days (and a few only available in the Encore volume). Of course, if there isn't an option to rotate your monitor, who cares?

That's too bad. Would playing the games on a television using a Gamecube and GameBoy Player improve matters?

No. They took Tron and DOT, two vertically mounted games, and squashed them into a horizontal GBA screen. Yuck.
